Funniest movie I have seen in about 1 year
There was one part in the movie, that I had to turn it off and go into the other room, cuz I thought I was gonna puke, from laughing.
Its stale humour .... just SILLY. plain silly. No real plot .. about a few nerds in high school.
Some O&A fans may dig it.
Dumb & Dumber/NERDS-esq humour .. fucking classic movie!

i thought it was ok... seemed like he was trying to play the loser too hard. parts were very funny - all the stuff with his older brother heh. anchorman was probably the best comedy last year.

yeah, i can see that.
i had no idea what to expect though ... so ... walkin into a movie, not knowing anything about it = always makes it easier to like it ....
the sceens with his brother were hillarious!
I dug anchorman ... thought it was pretty decent too ... will farrel is the shit!
I don't think i'd call it the best comedy of last year though :)

Napoleon Dynamite was hilarious. I saw it in the theater and was laughing like De Niro in Cape Fear.

I saw it in the theater, too. I was laughing about it for like three days. I got the dvd the day it came out and watch it pretty regularly. Uncle Rico is one of the best characters ever. "Betcha I can throw a football over them mountains."

I thought it was hysterical, dumb, funny, and retarded. Which always makes for a great comedy.

Easy there killa. I actually think it was a load of shit wrapped around some funny one liners. The acting was horrible, the plot was non-existant, and I think about 60% of the dialouge was pure shit. I will however agree that a lot of the one liners in this movie were very good. As far as Indy films go I'd say the funniest I've seen in a while is Igby Goes Down.

I think being a film student has decided to completely fuck me over.

Can't enjoy awful movies and appreciate their gaudiness anymore. I sat through this and never even cracked a smile. Yawned a few times, but that's about it.

Same with "Anchorman", although I think I might've chuckled at one or two lines in that one.

I absolutely love this movie. Saw it in the theater and thought it was very original. Don't get me wrong, I love Anchorman, Dodgeball, Old School, etc but those movies all seem very similiar with their humor. ND didn't have any outrageous scenes or crazy lines but the dialogue is great b/c it is spoken in such an "average, day to day" speech pattern that makes it so funny. Plus the characters are so weird and well played. I hope O&A see this soon and throw some lines on the sound board!

"Well, you have a sweet bike. And you're really good at hooking up with chicks. Plus you're like the only guy at school who has a mustache."

i think the reason i loved this movie so much was beacuse it wasnt your typical humour ... it wasnt:

set-up > anticipation > puchline

or

set-up > hollywood filler > punchline

it was just a quirky movie with silly charcters, doing "comedy" shit, with a dead-pan dialog & dead-pan delivery .... it made it dry ... and i liked it ...
i had no idea what to expect when i rented it ....

i'm so tired of the shit scripted comedy movies that have come out ... that some stupid ass movie like this was a breath of fresh air for me

Yup. Its dry, random and surreal humor. If you can't appreciate the humor of a cow being shot in the head in front of a busload of school children, then the movie isn't for you.

Mike H

Yup. It's a trap. There is no way one of us could explain to you why it is funny that is going to make you say "you know what, you're right. it is funny."

It would be like me asking how a Yankees fan could write that diatribe you have for your signature about players wearing the Boston laundry.

I like stupid characters and stupid, dry humor. I loved movies like Supertroopers and Garden State, but this movie didn't make me laugh more then 3 times:

1) when the guy shoots the cow
2) when he gets hit in the face while riding the bike
3) when the jock guy just walks by and slams Napoleon into the locker and keeps going

All physical-type humor. The lines people quote about "talking to hot babes" or how cool ligers are, are not funny to me.

This is how I explain Napoleon Dynamite to someone who hasn't seen it. Retards loved life goes on because they could relate to corky. They have awful haircuts, and giant heads, so does corky.

Geeks and nerds and dweebs, love napoleon dynamite because they could relate to Napoleon. Geeks can relate to not even remotely being cool. Not wearing the cool clothes, not getting laid, and not really caring. Well except the not getting laid part. I loved the movie, so yeah definately still a nerd.
