Normally, any movie based on the Boogeyman, I'd refuse to watch on principal, like that awful tooth fairy movie. But Sam Raimi is involved in it and I just saw a new commercial for it and it looks kinda creepy and possibly cool. Just wanted to see if any of ya have any preliminary thoughts on it.

My only thought on it is this:

Up until recently, I was under the understanding that this movie was going straight to video, which usually means it is not very good. But after the surprising success of The Grudge and Saw, they started promoting the movie as a theatrical release. I am not a fan of the genre, so I would not see it anyways, but it seeed to me that this is strictly a business decision to maximize profits (duh). Especially after White Noise, the first starring role by Michael Keaten in like 6 years (though I have to admit, I like Keaten), this movie will make money, but I would be really shocked if it was actually any good.

Thanks. I didnt hear about it supposed to be going straight to video. I'll still download it when it comes out. And how could you not like Michael Keaton?! I mean how could you ever doubt that man who brought us...Multiplicity. Nah, I'm kidding, I like him too, just because he was Batman in the only good Batman movie...outside of Mayor Adam West of course.

Keaton will always be Beetlejuice.

Yeah, that too. Those two movies cancel out some real shit movies. Just like Goodfellers, Casino and My Cousin Vinny let Pesci make "Gone Fishin'" and still be the man.

I saw the commercial for this, and the little girl was singing a song or whatever that sounded like a direct ripoff of the Nighmare on Elm Street freddy song.

I'll see any horror movie. For all that douche nozzle's sig pic freaks me out, the Ring is one of my favorite movies and I can't wait to see the Grudge, Saw, White Noise, and Boogeyman (and any others). I live for horror, but not in the movie theater. I need to be safely tucked into a hotel bed (not my own, cuz then the monsters will be in my home).

What was that Keaton movie (comedy I think) where he's in a nuthouse or something- they take a trip to a baseball game and he talks about the tiles in a tunnel- that scene always makes me laugh. I tried to find it on IMDB, but nothing is ringing a bell.

I'm not sure- I'm disgustingly unaware of the origins of the movies I watch. I didn't know for like a year that The Ring was originally Japanese.
Zombie movies used to be the scariest thing I could watch- its now little girls though. Tell me more- I might need to see them

well yeah they arent really scary, but fun to watch
http://imdb.com/title/tt0080057 Zombie
http://imdb.com/title/tt0081318 The gates of hell
http://imdb.com/title/tt0082966 House by the cemetary
http://imdb.com/title/tt0082307 the beyond

some of the titles on IMDB are listed in Italian but they are in english. the movies are extremely gory and thats what makes them great. Fulci was great with makeup and had no computer effects or that bullshit. In The gates of hell, an actor swallowed lamb entrails in order to vomit them up for a scene

I watched the trailer for "Zombie"- I like the disclaimer at the end! Those slow moving, relentless zombies are the epitome of frightening to me. I'll check out the rest of the movies on IMDB and try to find them to watch. Thanks al885!

I have to thank you even more now al885. I was watching one of the clips and it didn't end with that movie's trailer. It went on to advertise "Ring of Darkness (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372803/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnxteD0yMHxzZz0xfGxtPTIwMHx0dD1vbnxwbj 0wfHE9cmluZyBvZiBkYXJrbmVzc3xodG1sPTF8bm09b24_;fc= 2;ft=20;fm=1)". Months ago, I was watching some cable channel and started to watch this movie. Its about a zombie boy band or something. It has some of the most awful scenes I've ever witnessed. I remember discussing it around here somewhere as one of the worst movies I've ever partially sat through. Someone asked for the name of it, but I couldn't remember for the life of me. You have solved this mystery. I thank you whole-heartedly.

It's all about the slow, mindless zombies. Those newfangled running, intelligent zombies kinda piss me off. White Noise wasnt bad and Saw was real cool but the Grudge chugged major league asscock.

In 28 Days Later, they were really fast and not really zombies if you listen to the story line- that movie kicked ass

I hated it, I think that's one of those movies that you either love or hate. But I was just talkin about newer zombie movies in general...Resident Evil 1/2, the dawn of the dead remake (all of which i enjoyed) and uh....well, thats all i can think of off my head. I just wish they'd keep zombies like the Living Dead ones.

My thoughts: if you tweak the story line so it isn't just a typical zombie movie, then its okay to change the zombies themselves. In the Resident Evils, it was genetic engineering. In the Dawn remake, they were remaking it, so they had to do something different. I thought it was fucking great (not as good as the originals, but great for today's movies).

You bring up a good point. I still enjoyed the movies. I understand why they did it, but still...
