There has been a lot of talk on the show about the cursing content. And personally, I enjoy both aspects, the cursing and the abbreviations. Ever since I started listening to the show back in '99, I started talking like they did on the show. It was the virus getting to me I guess. But there isn't a day that goes by that something totally unfunny makes me laugh because it just sounds funny. For example: "I can't see without my glasses." :icon_lol: This makes me laugh because it makes me think that I can't cum (C) without my glasses on. This happens all the time and I love it. Do you guys feel the same way? Apparently there are some who disagree. Then again I also love when Norton totally rips a Canadian with a barrage of profanity.

I'll never understand why people care so much about cursing or not cursing on the show.

I think that Opie will say things like "Holy S", out habit more than anything else. He is so used to using the abrevs from being on regular radio for so long. I remember when the xm show first started. I was listening to a show with a friend of mine. He is also an fan from WNEW days. The first thing he said was "Opie stil says what the F. Isn't this satellite radio". It doesn't bother me in the least. I'm used to it from the old show. Now me, i don't do it. I'm old school. I don't think twice about dropping the F bomb. Uh-oh...i just did it.

Repeat after me.

"Cursing does NOT equal more gooder radio."

Read it. Understand it. Live it.

I've found that I do that from time to time. It usually depends on who I'm talking to or who I'm around.

...I can't cum without my glasses on. This happens all the time and I love it.
Perhaps a tincture of viagra and visine would help.

Sorry, couldn't resist. :icon_wink

I'm with Bach on this one. Overuse of ANY word lessens it effect.

Good, I'm glad to see that not everyone is anti-abbrev. And I can C without my glasses on, but I do need a box of Junior Mints slowly traced across my nipples in the shape of a parallelogram to get off. :icon_redf

It depends on the situation... sometimes the abbreviation works best, sometimes just saying the whole word is better.
I find myself laughin harder at chapelle's show on CC more then when i watch the uncencored dvd. I'm not sure why it's more gooder for me to hear *BEEP* and know what he's saying then to hear him say "FUCK"....

I agree with you about Chapelle's Tug. And I can't explain it either. I guess when they bleep it, I feel like I'm getting away with something. Go Eag's. Gack...Gack...Gack!

The bleep stands out more than the actual curse word. If you are 8, then hearing the word "fuck" is hilarious because it is a naughty word. But now, we are all immune to it because we hear it everyday. I laugh my ass up on Arrested Development when they bleep out a word; it just makes it funnier.

I don't have a problem with it at all, sometimes I do it too.

For some reason, "F this" or "F'n whatever" doesn't bug me in the least, but "Holy S" annoys the living, well...S out of me.

Cursing for cursing sake was fun when you were eight, as a twentysomething or adult, one's speech patterns change, or at least should have, to reflect the acceptable norms of society. Cursing constantly, lends itself as a mark of an underdeveloped psyche that is stuck in a state of pubescence.
The use of euphamisms (and initials) marks the psyche of a more matured and knowledgable persona, at least that's what my friend the psychology professor said.

In laymen’s terms saying fuck all the time makes you look like a fucking moron… and I didn’t need some over priced piece of paper to teach me that. The back of my old mans hand worked quiet well

If abbreviations bother u or not is of minor importance what is of mayor fucking impotance is that the frustration of hearing O&A laugh in the studio after hearing a line that got dumped out is vanquished
