Why is it I'll find a perfect spot for my antenna and it shows 3 bars on my skyfi2, everything is great then all of a sudden out of no where the signal drops in and out. How the hell does a stationary antenna have drop outs on a crystal clear day? I understand a car since its always moving but once I set my antenna I shouldnt have to mess with it all day should I?

"Welcome to Satellite"
This is what any smart-ass would say. And it's true. The longer answer, which of course you're looking for is:
"Welcome to satellite, where cloud, a twig, or the cow jumping over the moon can disrupt your TV/radio service preventing you from listening to quality entertainment, like XMNPR or watching quality semi-scrambled programming such as porn."

That only happened in my house once, but lasted about two-days... strangest thing. The only way I could get reception was with the door open.

I have found that flourescent lights would make mine cut out and was able to mount mine above them which rectified that. Also, if someone stoods long enough in line of the signal(mine was on a workbench at one time) I would lose it. Then, there are the random, non-explainable ones-like when I had mine mounted outside our building next to the metal garage door, it would be fine. But raise the door part way, it would cut in and out.

Weather should not affect your signal. However cordless phones, microwaves and other crap can affect your reception. Not really the signal from the satellites, but those things mess with the receiver. If you're in an apt, your neighbors shit could be messing with it.
At work I only get repeater signal and occasionally got dropouts. I moved the antenna around, tweak the position (using the 2-0-7 diagnostics) to find the sweet spot and hasn't been a problem.
In the house / apt, unless there is something interfering with the receiver you shouldn't be getting dropouts like that. It's not like Satellite TV where a fart in the wind can F up the signal.
For SkyFi1/2 & Roady to use the diagnostic screens. Turn radio off. Push 2-0-7, then the XM button (on SkyFi) or the scroll button in (on Roadys). The unit will power on, then hit display a few times 'till you see the diagnostics screens. For more info on this go to www.xm411.com
