XM to launch 2 more satellites!!!!

XM is planning to launch two more satellites, bringing the total to four!!!!

From what I understand,
The two existing satellites, nicknamed: ROCK & ROLL will
be REPLACED, by the two new satellites, nicknamed RHYTHM & BLUES

ROCK & ROLL will serve as backup satellites....
Will all four work simultaniously???? Only time will tell

Rhythm launches this month.... and Blues launches in 2007....

No. XM-3 is replacing the satellite over the East Coast. The one of the East Coast will move to the West Coast to co-operate with the other satellite. Both satellites over the West Coast will have the transponder power of one satellite combined. There's another thread where I mentioned the same thing.

yeah, this thread will co-operate with an existing thread in the XM forum.

what's gonna happen is that XM-3 (Rhythm) will be launched this month, and XM-2 (Roll) will be moved to XM-1's (Rock) location. when XM-4 (Blues) is launched, Rock and Roll will become in-orbit spares until their licenses expire, at which time Rock and Roll will be deorbited.

they should name XM-3 and -4 Opie and Anthony, but launch at the same time.... Anthony might get jealous, and it would look kinda goofy to have a multi-million dollar piece of equipment floating in geo-synch orbit with the name "Opie" stenciled on the side.

I would think that will have to due with the number and strength of repeaters in your area, unless you happen to have a lot of skylights and windows whereever you are listening....

NO NO NO..XM didnot launch 2 new satalites!!!! MY sister works at the Jet Propultion Labrotory in Modesto CA and she tells me no satallites have been launched in recent months by XM.She tells me that high altitude radar is currently tracking 2 objects in near earth orbit..believed to be the remains of the G-mans balls
