Wait for them! I finally bought a MyFi & it is the biggest piece of dogshit I've ever seen. No signal indoors whatsoever. I really regret the purchase and I've only had it for 1/2 hour.

No signal indoors whatsoever.

It's still satellite radio. If there are no repeaters in your area, you still to have an antenna that has direct view of the satellite. You're inability to understand the concept of how satellite radio works doesn't make the Myfi a "piece of dogshit".

Was there ever any mention whether the new XM To Go units will have fast forward or rewind capabilities within a given segment? That's my only complaint about the Myfi.

Hopefully when they get the new satellites launched, and there are 4 instead of 2 the signal problems will decrease.

The MyFi shouldn't then be tagged as a "go anywhere" model.

Why not?

You can take it anywhere can't you?

Even if you have to wear that gay lipstick lookin antenna, It is still portable.

I have had mine for about a month and the only time I take out of my home kit, is when I have O&A recorded.

That is the beauty of it. Record whatever you want an take it with you when you go on subways, in buildings, or in an area that is tough to receive a signal.

I have a couple questions about the MyFi:

1. Does the MyFi have to be pn the station your recording, or could you listen to one station while recording the other?

2. Can you pre-set a recording for station and time or do you have to manualy hit "reord" and "stop"?

Thanks!

As far as my understanding...

1. you can only record what you're listening to. so it's not possible to say...record OnA and listen to Liquid Metal or what have you...

2. you can pre-set it to record...but your MyFi can't be on when it comes time to record or it won't...it just stays on whatever it's on as to not disrupt what you're listening to.

FYI, teh two new units that will be out in spring, will function IDENTICALLY to the MyFi. The only differences are COSMETIC. All the internals including the antenn are identical as well.

New satellites, when launched may improve signal marginally, but if you currently do not get reception indorrs, that will likely NOT change.

MyFi is designed for portable use and the included 5 hours of recording is there so yu can listen to it everywhere, even when you cannot get a good signal indoors sometimes.

Thanks Ziggy. Can you comment on the size of the newer units, if there's any difference?

The MyFi shouldn't then be tagged as a "go anywhere" model.

It can be used anywhere. The whole point of XM to Go is to allow people to record 5 hours of programming when they aren't using the MyFi and then when they are in a location where the live feed can't be received, they can playback the recorded programming.

The MyFi is definitely more useful for people who listen to music than it is for people who listen to talk radio because 5 hours of music recorded from their favorite station should be just as enjoyable to them as if they were listening to the live feed.

I have the MyFi as my second unit and keep it in my office. I record the live show every morning and listen to whatever I missed at home or in the car throughout the day. Also, I've found that the Myfi stores a lot more than 5 hours of the O&A show. That's probably because talk radio can be compressed a lot more than music can.

If your schedule will allow you to record a full show from start to finish every day, you may end up finding the Myfi to be very useful. I have.

So how does the antenna work, clip on? Clip on to what?
And it comes with a car kit, home kit, charger, etc.. Sounds like a deal to me...

One question, if i begin to play the recorded O and A show.. turn the unit off, then turn it back on again, will it start from teh beginning, or from where I turned it off?? Thanks

It has a internal antenna, a small one you can clip on your sleeve or what not, a home antenna, and a car antenna.

You will pick up exactly where you left off.

It will start where you left off. Also, if you want to skip a segment, you can. Every time they go to or return from commercial the onscreen display changes. When the display changes XM To Go thinks that's a new "song". You can skip to the beginning of the next "song" anytime you want to.

Also, you can scroll through all of the segments using the scroll wheel. That is very cool for listening to music you have recorded.

I hated the myfi when i got it. even tried to sell it here. but, and much of this is the luck of living on the west coast, I can set it every night to record o and a from 3-7. then I wake up, it's all recorded and I can listen anywhere. the thing is great, at least for my situation. just face your home antenna south and record. just wish you could fast-forward or rewind.

Yep. I love mine. I can listen to o&a at work all day at my leisure and not miss a thing. Also, on days like today where they are not broadcasting live, I can set it up to record 4 hours of Fred or whatever else.

The only thing I dislike about the MiFi is that the FM Transmitter sucks ass and the remote does not work if you are more than 10 feet away.

i was slightly disappointed in mine when i got it...

but after having it for a month, i've grown to love the little fella.

nothing like having XM wherever you want to go...
