I know this is not really the proper web site to be asking for this type of help, but I know some of you guys are really good with computers and I have not been able to get help elsewhere as of yet.
Yesterday, seemingly out of nowhere, my iTunes program started to fuck up. Whenever I try to play any music through it, the music sounds terrible. It will play, but with a ton of static and scratch sounds and whatnot. These very same files sound absolutely perfect when I play them through Windows Media Player, so I know that there is nothing wrong with the music files, nor the speakers, nor the computer itself. Whatever the problem is, it must be with iTunes (right?). The first thing I did, knowing this somehow fixes weird problems like this sometimes., was to reboot the computer, which did not help. Then I completely uninstalled the iTunes program and reinstalled it, but the problem is still persisting. I do not know what else I can really do to remedy this issue. Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks in advance, fellow wackbaggers...

Same thing happened to me... right after I installed Total Recorder. Haven't run Total Recorder yet, just installed it. But everything played through iTunes stutters now. I don't use iTunes to play music, so not really a big deal at the moment...

Freakin' Windows! I wonder if you uninstall iTunes and reinstall it will fix it.
Unfortunately, I can't help too much since I have iTunes on my Macs and they do not have those problems.
I am sure it is a software conflict. Whatever you installed recently probably does not play nice with iTunes. Try the reinstall of iTunes and if that does not work, dump the offending software and try again.

He tried that already... didn't work.
If I uninstall Total Recorder, it might work for me... but I don't give a shit about iTunes, so I'm in no rush to do it.

have you checked the audio out settings for iTunes? or perhaps the EQ?

Is there some sort of anti-copying technology that intentionally messes up the iTunes playback when you've got recording software installed? There's a number of games that won't work when you've got drive emulators on.

Hanny nailed it guys. Thanks a lot. I had installed Total Recorder about a week ago and although I was sure I had used iTunes fine since then, I guess I was wrong. I just uninstalled it and now the program works perfectly.
Thanks alot for everyones' help; I appreciate it a lot. Nobody in the iPod Lounge forum even attempted to help.

When you install total record it changes your playback audio device to the total record version. if you go to cotrol panel and change it back to your default one, it might fix this problem.

Doesn't matter who scored the goal... as long as we got the win!
As Brett Hull says... There's no I in team... but there's no team without I.
But I think Hummer's a little miffed because I went over his helmet.
I didn't really, though... just more to the side...
PS... why do I always laugh uncontrollably when I see "pogram"...
