I would buy a new one and send XM the bill. Because I can only imagine that you had the volume cranked while listening to O&A, just so you could hear what the boys and callers are saying and then when a break started and some innocuous comedy bit started playing at about +10 db and was all fucking distorted and it blew the hell out of your speakers.
I know personally I jumped out of my seat just moments ago when a loud scratching noise came from my speakers during some idiotic comedy clip.
I FUCKING HATE THIS SHIT!!!11
FIX THE FUCKING LEVELS!!!
You can put a satellite in orbit but you can't equalize the levels? FUCK!!!!!11ONEONEPERIODPOINTYTHING

Its pretty simple to replace the speakers if all else fails
http://www.parts-express.com/
1. buy some new speakers
2. take boombox apart
3. replace speakers
4. profit
It could be under warranty though call in complain about the fucked up levels, I'm pissed too they arent doing shit about fixing the levels.

I'd have to disagree about replacing the speakers. Boomboxes and other devices of the like typically use some proprietary speaker that is an odd size and/or shape and is nearly impossible to find.
Now, before you bash me, realize I said "typically" and "nearly". The above statement surely does not apply in all situations.
As for returning the unit, I would ask them to ship out a new one along with return shipment documents. You as a customer have already been inconvenienced by their product failing prematurely. Why should you further have to live without your unit for several weeks while THEY fix THEIR problem?
Of course, if I were on their end and you asked for this, I would say that your unit failed because of abuse and should not be covered under warranty. But, out of the kindness of our hearts, we are willing to replace the unit if you return the damaged unit to us for inspection.
Really it's all just conjecture. Send back the unit. Get a new one. Be happy.
Oh and send Jaime a nasty letter and tell him to FIX THE FUCKING LEVELS!!!

or you can just go to a computer/electronics/walmart store and get a set of powered computer speakers, then connect those speakers to the headphone jack of your boombox.
Viola! Overpriced home kit!
