I don't see why you would think he's gay, but he I agree that he isn't too funny. He isn't a hack or anything, but theres a lot better comedians out there who would be easier to get. I think they just focus on Mohr because they're personally offended by his flaking.

Never heard his act.
Can anyone tell me what movies he was in? I know I've seen 'em, but it's not ringing a bell.

He played a role that he was born for. A gay prima donna in the movie "Go". He also was a pompous ass in "Jerry McGuire" perhaps ONA should have of taken that as a forewarning.

He starred in "Action!" on Fox, which was underrated and killed before it had a chance to become something. I thought his Comedy Central special from last year was pretty good.
I'm not sure his issue with the show is one of trying to distance himself from them. I think he's probably just too lazy, although it doesn't sound like he's talked to them much off the air lately, either. He gave them a mention on "Last Comic Standing" when he introduced Norton. If he was trying to keep his distance for career reasons, he'd have to be a fucking retard to mention them on a prime-time NBC show.

he's not funny. I've never laughed at his jokes. But he's an OK serious actor. He plays a good A-hole.

The most recent standup he did (or at least the most recent one I saw) was pretty good. I don't know what it was called, or what channel it was on (I'm thinking it had to be ComCent, since I don't have any movie channels), but it started with an intro with him saying "it's great to be back in my hometown of NYC etc. etc. etc." and there was a guy urinating in the street behind him.
It was a pretty good act. he even mentioned his wife a few times.... You know, the one he's cheating on.

I thought he always killed on the show. Seen his stand up act twice at Carolines. Back to back nights, a lot of different material the 2nd night. Jeff Norris opened up, Stephen Lynch and Denacola went up with Jay and performed F.B.A. Place went crazy.
I have seen Breuer and Regan also. Out of those three I thought Jay was the funniest.
I also thought his T.V appearances were pretty good back in the day. He would always throw out that obscure reference that would make you laugh if you were a fan of the show.

Jay had good appearances on the show and that show he did "Action" was pretty good with Jeff Goldblum (oops I mean Illeanna Douglas), but I don't really know his stand up act that well.

That ain't acting, my friend. :icon_wink
Jay's always been really uneven, in my opinion. Sometimes, he's absolutely hysterical (phone sex w/Marco, the Airsick fight), but I don't really care for his stand-up.

Jay Mohr is like Colin Quinn, overrated. He is praised by other comics because he gets TV shows (always cancelled) and Moive parts (always suck) so he is considered sucessful.

Don't Forget "paulie"
OK, I may be the only one, but I read Jay's book about his time on Saturday Night Live. It was a good read, but like my wife said, "Jay sounds like a whining little bitch" in the book.
I liked his stand-up that I have seen and I thought "Action" was great. But that may be because I want to touch Ileana Douglas's dirty spot.

Never liked him. Dangerfield is funny, norton is funny, hell carrottop is more ammusing to me than Mohr.
Wasn't he in Toy Soldiers too? He came off as a dick in that movie too. I doubt he was acting.

Jay has a new movie coming out! lets see if it as entertaining as "Cherry Falls"!
I think Jay Mohr is very gifted. I enjoy everything he's contributed to movies, television, stand-up, and the O&A show.

Small Soldiers... ugh. Such potential for a good, f'ed up "kids" movie... had Denis Leary AND Phil Hartman's final film role. And Jay played a scumbag in the movie.

Totally agreed. Newbies who never heard him on the show back on WNEW should try to get a hold of some of those bits. Don't know what to make of this bizarre drama of him not calling but I'd love to hear him with the boys again.
