Yes. It's THREE POSTS IN ONE!

PART I

I bought a convertible this last month. A bit of an upgrade from my old geo storm where I had my Skyfi 2's antenna located in the back of the car on the roof. Well... I can't really put the antenna on the roof anymore, so what I've done is put it outside on the driver's side next to the windshield. I'm probably suffering a little lack of signal when I drive some places because of this, but I haven't really noticed yet. Does anyone happen to have any other suggestions as to the placement of the antenna? It's a 92 Toyota Celica GT. I thought of putting the antenna on the trunk or even cutting open a little spot for the antenna on the spoiler.

PART II

I've also looked at an XM DIRECT setup. I have a sony head end that supports it. But I would like to use the small antenna I have right now instead of the slightly bigger one that's provided with the kit. Does an adapter for the antenna exist or would it be ok to split open the cable and make my own?

PART III

If I do decide to stay with my Skyfi 2 setup, I have a slight problem. The sticky pad that goes on the bottom of the mount seems to be missing. I checked everywhere and it's nowhere to be found. I tried using some of that stuff you find at the stores that sticks hangers and stuff to the walls but it didn't stick to the dash of my car. I Even tried cleaning the surface with alcohol before attempting to mount it but the weight on the sticky pads was too great I guess. I can't seem to find my A/C mounts anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find either item?

thank you.

Mine is just sitting at the base of my windshield (on the dashboard).

It's not even "attached" in any way, I just jammed it up there and every couple of weeks I have to push it back when it works its' way loose.

Reception is fine, except at drive-throughs and when a two/three story building is between me and the "southern exposure".

My fiancee has a 2001 Impala LS... for the sake of making the wiring look cleaner, and nothing else, I ran the wiring from the SkyFi cradle into the back sit (tucked it under the molding) and then I have it go through the back seat (it folds down) and into the trunk. Then I stuck the antenna on the trunk. Her reception is great. I am pretty sure thats what Delphi recommends for convertables anyway.

I guess the idea is since the antenna is magnetic the metal of the trunk/roof/whatever sort of acts like more antenna?

Yes, that is the idea... But it is not a necessity. Mine is not mounted on metal (heck it's not even on the outside of the car) and it works fine.

BTW I have a Roady2 with the OEM antenna, so I can't vouch for other antennas.
