"A lawsuit claims the video game Grand Theft Auto led a teenager to shoot two police officers and a dispatcher to death in 2003, mirroring violent acts depicted in the popular game. The suit announced Tuesday seeks damages from the game's manufacturers and two stores that allegedly sold it to Devin Thompson, now 18... Thompson is accused of killing the three men in June 2003 after being brought to the Fayette police station on suspicion of driving a stolen car. Thompson allegedly grabbed one of the officer's guns, shot him and the other two, then fled in a patrol car... Named in the suit are Wal-Mart Stores and Gamestop along with Take-Two Interactive Software, the manufacturer of the games, and Sony Computer Entertainment, the maker of the PlayStation 2."

i think violent video games are the only thing STOPPING me from killing.
without a creative outlet like GTA, hitman, manhunt, mortal kombat, call of duty...etc. i would probably snap and go on a murderous road trip full of bloody revenge and sadistic thrill-kills. followed by a sensational, televised, trial of the century where i would be sentenced to some lame, emotion inducing penalty. like making "i'm sorry cakes" for all the victims' families. then i'd spend the rest of my life in a mental ward laughing at the babbling droolers.

Blame GTA for your kids murderous rampage. Blame Judas Priest for your kid trying to commit suicide, make sure to get your whole face in front of the shotgun next time stupid. Blame the dealer on the corner, blame the teachers, blame society, Blame McDonalds, TV, Janet Jackson, O&A, porn, alcohol. Blame Canada!

People in this country need to begin accepting responsability for their actions instead of looking for the reason why. Shit happens, Deal with it!

Isen't it a parents responsibility to make sure their children are in school when they are supposed to? Aren't parents being locked up because their kids are habitual truants? Perhaps the same philosophy could be used to make sure parents are involved in providing the proper supervision in regard to their child's upbringing. If the kid does the crime, the parent does the time.

Let's put the blame where it belongs. A parent is ultimately responsable their child.

I have no doubt that the family was contacted by Thompson, not the other way around.

this is the same prick who jumped on the news networks during the WTC crises and couldnt wait to put forth the idea that the terrorists were "likely" trained by a program such as MS Flight Simulator. Another school shooting took place last year (I forget where) but Thompsons face was on every major news network extolling his "murder trainer" "god mode" theory of games such as Counter Strike etc. The media, much to their discredit, keep giving this asshole a forum to put forth his ridiculous theories. Meanwhile the hobby gets dragged down a little each time.

Of course like every other filth bag they hide behind the "doing for the children" excuse.

The only justice I'll be happy to see is for this slimey fuck to be carjacked near his home, pulled out on to the ground and kicked to death like a street whore in Grand Theft Auto.
