There has been a ton of great work here and I have to admit, as a novice I am curious how you all are putting your pics together. So I was wondering what tool and techniques you all are using. Im thinking this thread could be a bit more beyond the basics.
Myself, I use the magnetic lasso tool, with a 1 pixel feather. I then copy by layer and move it to the main image followed by resizing via the move tool and maybe playing a bit with the opacity.
BTW I am using Photoshop 7.0

Here are a few good places to learn shit:
http://www.teamphotoshop.com/tut_photoshop/ps_tut.php
http://www.planetphotoshop.com/
http://www.absolutecross.com/tutorials/photoshop/
Also, you can go to Google.com and click on the "groups" tab. Search for Photoshop tutorials.
I've learned more with online tutorials than I have going to school for it.
Photoshop is not hard once you get the hang of all the tools (huh huh... "tools")

My technique if want to call it that is the cropping of faces. Cage used the eyes primarily on famous faces to create a morph that worked well with the face he used it for. It's really a question of "How creative are you?" you can use a bunch of different technique's.
Me personally I use quality photos or ones that i've taken myself and use a template i've made of the boys faces including Steve, Erik, Ben Etc.
As for Font's and dynamic approaches to pics. I recommend the book I mentioned above.

When using the Pen tool to map out the face my philosiphy is "Less = More"! The convert tool works for the rounding of edges however if the pic is real SMALL I dont even bother with too much accuracy for it. Work with the pic real big so you can get details without even realizing it. Very vague but maybe it might help. :icon_mrgr

Yes, trial and error here too.
Been flipping thru a couple of books but I keep getting lost in "layers" (OK, kinda got that now) "masks" and "channels". It gets crazy.
Thanks to all for the tutorial links ! Looks like that is the way to go if you just want to learn the "How to Do It"

searching for tips on the web is great to learn tricks and short cuts but the best way to learn the basics and develop a good understanding is to buy the adobe classroom in a book on whatever version you are using. stupid pic below, i really am the one on the right.....
