I loved Lemmy today. He was mellow, but I still dug the conversation, even if it did get a bit slow at the end. That man kicks ass!! I don't normally start threads, but I thought he deserved it.

I'm a big Lemmy fan and thought he was cool. We were all expecting another kickass show and we got Lemmy. Not bad in retrospect.(I'm stoned now, listening to the replay) Hey, anyone remember Hawkwind?

He was cool. Fuck, he just IS cool. Lemmy's one of my all-time fave rock dudes. I couldn't believe all the people he's been working with lately. Dave Grohl, the friggin' Reverend...awesome. I really gotta catch up. I actually haven't listened to his music for a long time, but after hearing him today, I feel the need to racquaint myself with it.
As far as Hawkwind is concerned, I hadn't heard of them until recently. I do know that there's at least one member on this board who digs them. Maybe he'll post here at some point.
Lemmy.

Nope.

He sucked at first in my opinion but as I listened he said some cool things, and I found him entertaining.
The way he was answering questions at first seemes to me that he was just giving yes or no answers and it was going to be a train wreck. When he started actually talking and not just responding is when he was the best.
Id like to hear him again on the show.

the fact that he can still form complete sentences is a miracle, let alone add something to the show. He did great...

Yeah knee, I thought there was definite potential for a train wreck. Glad it didn't end up that way. And I hope he's on again too.

Lemmy rocks!
Lemmy and Ozzy in a conversation, imagine that mess of mouths full of marbles.
Hawkwind was one of the key pioneering heavy metal bands, and Lemmy has been instrumental in the growth and success of the genre. Anyone that listens to so-called "death metal" or modern heavy metal may thank Mr. Kilmister for spearheading the genre and continually taking it to the next level.
Motorhead is revolutionary on so many levels. Their longevity alone speaks volumes; just about thirty years recording, and continually putting out quality music. Around twenty years into their career, they put out "Bastards", one of the most critically acclaimed metal albums ever, not to mention "1916" and "Orgasmatron".
Lemmy is a personable individual who is extraordinarily intellectual. On the fortunate occasion that I had to meet him, he was reading a book about the history of World War II that was so thick it made the dictionary look like a leaflet. He then proceeded to not only describe it in vivid detail, but refute its arguments with conclusive evidence. And when he got bored of that, he excused himself for a moment and went to fuck a groupie.
This is Lemmy. Lemmy rocks. Any questions?

Lemmy is a metal God. He also seemed to get the show. He could roll with punches when necessary, yet drop some subtle dark wit of his own. He man sound like Ozzy with strept throat on a bender, but he still has his senses about him. He also could decide to beat your ass at any given moment. Plus he prefers Makers Mark...great shit to drink, and they also sell cigars blened with it too. Fuckin' A! :cdude:

Hey, anyone remember Hawkwind?
"Run and get the morphine
For God's sake make it brief
Lost Johnny's out there
Looking for relief."
Shades of the Motorhead to come, through the eyes of Hawkwind.
"I am the one, Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand. My image is of agony. My servants **** the land. Obsequious and arrogant. Clandestine and vain. Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name. Hypocrisy made paramount. Paranoia the law. My name is called religion. Sadistic, sacred whore."
Now THAT is some good shit from Lemmy.

Too true Bach, Orgasmatron is one of my favorite Motorhead albums.
Although "Dr. Rock" was a very transparent attempt at a pop single.

It's great to see so many other Lemmy fans - although after all the things I've read in this thread, I hardly feel like one. I don't know shit about the guy. Thanks for all the info everybody. I definitely got an education. I think I'm going to have to make a stop at the music store today.

I agree with that. They may have been tired of never getting any radio spins and wanted to shoot for one "mainstream" single. They did it with "Born To Raise Hell" also, but compare those to songs like "March or Die", "1916", "Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me", and "No Voices In The Sky", and you can see that for the most part, Motorhead remained true to its roots.
Lemmy was a great contribution to the show and would love to hear more from him in the future.

that Jesus line is hilarious, however it's woody allen's. said it in a bit about being on a blind date with a nun on one of his records in the early 60's. however, to think that lemmy is ripping off woody allen hoo hoo is even more amusing. jimmikins

I wasn't listening too closely, but did Lemmy say "Now it's mine" right after the line?
has anyone noticed Lemmy's mole looks like a Cocoa Puff?
Yes. Beavis and Butt-Head noticed the very same thing about nine years ago.

Jesus Norton, your ability to remember where all these bits are from and who said them blows my mind. It really is quite impressive. BTW, I'm not fawning. I'm just making an observation.

I saw Motorhead at the Beacon Theatre in December 1984, I really went for the 2 opening bands, Mercyful Fate and Exciter. While the openers were good, I was blown away by the ferocity of Motorhead. Just the loudest shit I'd ever seen before or since, and I've seen bands like Death, Sepultura, Obituary, Godflesh, etc..
I've always wondered about something though. During the show someone in the crowd threw a roman candle at Lemmy and he stopped the show and really gave it to the audience. A few years later I saw a Motorhead clip on one of those Hard N Heavy videos and again someone threw something at him and actually hit him in the head. Is this some kind of ritual with Motorhead fans? Its a pretty stupid one at that, and I can't imagine Lemmy encouraging it.
BTW, still got my vinyl copy of Motorhead's Greatest Hits (Bronze Records I think) that came in a leather sleeve and it still smells wonderful. Priceless!
