Here it is...Driving to the gym a little while ago I passed McDonalds and behind me a car pulls out, he is also like a foot away from my bumper anyway a mile or so down the road a car (two cars ahead) pulled into a driveway and got stuck from the snow so his car was sticking half way out, the car in front of me hit the brakes,,,I hit the brakes and heard "scrrrrrreeeech...bang" The guy behind me get's out and asks if I'm ok. Next thing I know he's directing traffic, I look at his car which is smashed and there are blue lights flashing (the impact of the hit knocked his front bumper off and made his blue lights flash)......
He pulls out a radio and calls in the accident, meanwhile I realize the guys a cop and looks very familiar. He says "im never living this one down, that's a squad car"- I said "yea I just realized, am I in trouble for this" (half joking) He says "no it was my fault I looked down for a second, I was eating lunch then I looked up and it was too late"
a few minutes pass and he calls in, "where the fuck are you guys?" the reply= "oh were taking our time,,,,,we don't want to get into an accident, then laughing"
The guy looks at me and shaking his head, then he say's "do you belong to balanced?" ----turns out this guy belongs to my gym (He's got a nice Harley and has both arms covered in TATS, he's a really cool guy and seems to know everybody. I said "yea i was on my way there" and he starts to laugh.
Anyway cops show up run my plates and my liscence, meanwhile people are gaucking like crazy, many asking if he was allright because his car was smashed and again he knows everybody.
Next thing the tow truck pulls up and I move my suv out of the way so his car can be towed (the guy has been pulling shit out of his car, shovel, personal shit etc, next thing I know he pulls out a big ass black gun (looked like a machine gun, lol, I don't know much about guns but it looked like something that belonged in Iraq in a US soldier's arm)----I asked "you gonna' shoot me" and he replies "no im gonna shoot myself".
This guy was soooooo imbarassed...anyway one of the cops gave me his badge id# and name and said "thanks for being so patient and understanding anytime you have a problem or get pulled over just give the officer this" he handed me a card with all his info.

Nice! Glad to see your cops can be regular guys there, bro. Sounds like a sort of pleasant experience, considering the circumstances.

Cops usually have a great sense of humor. My dad (cop for 20 yrs) has hilarious stories. Can you imagine dealing with the dregs of society everyday? When they pull over a guy like me who respects them, they usually treat me like I'm an ass, because the people they usually pull over are assholes...

I missed one thing though... why do you say he was undercover?
He had a radio on him and cops dont carry radios on them when off duty atleast in NY, offduty cops dont have large guns in there trunk, they r only required to carry there service firearm when off duty and he got out and started directing traffic instead of worring about his car and norton23 would have said he was in unform because he was shocked that the dude started directing traffic.

Very funny story man and considering the situation, it worked out pretty well for you. Also, like some others have said, glad you're not hurt hon. That could have been really ugly.
As far as police officers are concerned, I suppose they're just like anyone else - some people are assholes, some aren't. This cop sounds like someone I wouldn't mind pulling me over. He was obviously one of the good ones.
I imagine too that the way cops act depends on the particular sitation. My brother's been on the force in Norfolk, VA for about 23 years and I've seen how respectful and laid-back he can be with people. At the same time, he can turn it around and be a complete jerk when it's merited. He just has to be able to guage that kind of thing. Also, it seems like the longer you've been on the job, the more "human" you get. I have a feeling that as awesome as my brother is, when he first started, he probably had his not so friendly moments. Now he's a detective headed towards retirement and he's a very mellow guy. He's still good at what he does but with age and experience, he's figured a few things out that the noobies haven't yet.
Anway, have fun with that get-out-of-jail-free card man. Hell, I don't even have one of those.

I haven't seen this guy at the gym yet but today after work I'll most likely see him---again he's mad cool and has some sick tats all over his arms, and he's a biker with a sweet harley.
I now find myself scared to hit the brakes too hard though,,,,which right now with the roads the way they are= snow melting and drifts of snow getting shoved into the road=not fun driving when your going 50 then have to glide over a mound of snow that got shoved there from the melting.....
But man I can't wait to see this guy, the gym is small (it's just outside my city) so the story must be out, kinda strange because I'm from the city and dont know anybody from that town. But I have to ask to check his harley out i've always wanted too (I first saw it last month on a weekend when it was a decent like 55 out)

Harleys are sweet. A friend of mine has one and he's taken me on a couple rides. I'm also a big fan of tats and cops.
Hm. I don't suppose if you happen to know if this guy's single? :icon_wink
