Just curious what everyone thinks about the idea....
Op's got 1, Ants got 1, would having a 3rd be overkill???
or would Jimmy's personal collection of audio clips be a
hilarious addition to the show???
(Im convinced Norton should've had one
for the "Wheelchair Fred dildo bit")

I think that is a great idea Jimmy is a great addition to the show, and anything to do with him makes the show more gooder.

I dunno, the Instant Replay doesn't really seem like it's his "thing."

I'm inclined to agree with Bob. I think two sfx systems is enough, personally. Not to mention the fact that Jim is at his best when he's extemperaneous. His random acts of thought are radio gold. He shouldn't have to plan sound effects. It's obvious that the three of them are so in synch with each other that if Jim's on a rant and there's an appropriate sound effect to be played, then either Ant or Opie will hit it from their respective Instant Replays.
Jim is a master of spontaneous, off-the-cuff remarks. Why fix what isn't broken?

Jimmy is great. When he's on the road the show is very good. But when he is there the show is great. He has a ton of great stories and I love his interview skills he askes the tough questions.

My only goal is to make folks see through the collective crap-colored glasses everyone is wearing, and understand that we have a great thing going here.

:arrrh: So are you all now producers of the O and A show? Is this up to wackbaggers to decide? I think not. You are entitled to opinions of course but the only ones that matter are in that studio in NY. Right?

Sure, why not?
Actually, as I recall, Norton mentioned in one of the shows last week that he really needs his own FX board. In fact, I think he flatly stated, "I'm going to get one". O & A sounded like they thought it would be a good idea too.
The reason I don't think it would be overkill is that Norton is very respectful of O & A's turf. He contributes to the show when he feels he has a good contribution. Other times, he's noticeably silent. I think he would use a sound board far less than O & A would-- and that, my kraut-mick friends, would be very appropriate.
BTW, love your music contributions to the p'ogram.

I personally don't even think opie should have one. I think the SFX are funny, but often overused. While some of you might disagree, there are just so many times I can here "howdy faggot" and still laugh. Back in the WNEW days, I actually hated jimmy. I thought he was unfunny, and it was the same routine over and over. I think XM is a much better medium for him, because it allows him to be him, and now I really enjoy what jimmy brings to the table. Part of the reason is because it is unique in terms of the rest of the show. That's what makes the show great. All three of them are very different. I think by other people having an instant replay, they are all kinda doing an anthony impression.

I think he flatly stated, "I'm going to get one". Well, if the star of Norton and Friends wants one, he will get it.

I think Jimmy would rather have an in-house Starbucks coffee maker and an apple tree than an instant replay machine.

I totally agree with this. I doubt we would hear him use it even once in some entire shows, but when he did use it, it would be appropriate.
And thats not to mention that he would likely have allot of his own clips, presumably hand picked by norton himself (his own flavor of instant replay).
Hell, he could even put clips of himself on there. Say he has a big mouth full of bannana and skim milk - click - *It stinks, and I don't like it* -
Then all he would need to worry about is job security :icon_wink

And that's what's great about Norton, you know he'd turn
it into some kinda new bit....
He's really creative when it comes to stuff like that.....
Maybe fill it with himself, and try to do an entire show
with the instant replay....... Hes fuckin funny...
I wouldnt put it past him.
give lil jimmy a soundboard. imagine that. GIVE HIM ONE

I think it could be very funny if Jimmy could do Instant replays, either because of his choices or hearing him trying to learn how to work it. I say yes!
*I sense a whole lot of Full Metal Jacket clips*
But seriously, Jimmy with an IR would be great.
More options=more gooder.
