Hope to see a lot of you at the event! For that day, we could be running some Irish music. I've already put together a decent collection of material, but always open to suggestions. Could be traditional irish songs, covers of traditionals, funny songs, etc. Anything you think would fit in nicely, post away. To cut off some of the emails I know would be coming in: YES ,we have Metallica's cover of 'Whiskey In The Jar'. NO, we're not gonna play the full version of 'Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald'. We'd lost half the show playing that.

Oh yeah, obviously you'd want to play some Irish-tinged skacore. Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, etc.
And of course, this:

Anything by the Prodigals is good stuff. Kick ass irish band with good ole time favorite covers
Some traditional Irish stuff to consider:
The Pogues
The Waterboys
Goats Don't Shave
Blackthorn
FYI, Blackthorn does a tune called "Seven Drunken Nights," which would be ideal for the show. All about drinking and sex.
Sexbagel, if you want the song and can't find it online, PM me and I'll send you a copy.

Dude, all you need is some fucking U2, an eightball of coke, and a fucking pint of Guinness mixed with champagne. Or you can just play some Irish bands like Stiff Little Fingers and The Undertones, but no fucking Cranberries. Crazy, nuts, and insane.

Actually, if you have heard the promo running on XM, they're already using a Pogues tune as the music bed. It's "Cotton Fields," I believe. But there are alot of other songs that rock that could be played at the show.

Quick list off the top o' me head:
seven drunken nights -flogging molly
salty dog - flogging molly
Irish drinking song (as far as i know) - Dropkick murphys
3rd or 4th verse is:
"And Mary MacGraegor , well she was a pretty whore
She'd always greet you with a smile and never locked her door
But on the day she died all the men in town did weep
For Mary MacGraegor finally got some sleep"... how can you not like THAT?
new york girls - finbar furey
Whiskey, your the devil - whoever..
wasn't that a party - irish rovers <yea, yea, i know.. but hey, its the rovers.. >

Wolfe Tones have some pretty cool songs. They do alot of the rebel IRA fight songs. "Rock On Rockall" is a good one. In addition to Whiskey in the Jar, there's another song called "Whiskey You're The Devil" that's really good. The Pouges actually do a REALLY good version of that in a real barroom/party beat that would be PERFECT for the flow of the show into a new segment - fast and upbeat. Seven Drunken nights is cool but it goes on forever.
For individual songs that would work on the show, I'd suggest
Dropkick Murphys - Finnegan's Wake
Dropkick Murphy's - Boys on the Docks
The Pouges - Whiskey, You're The Devil
and of course, "I Love Being an Irishman" from the Most Offensive Song contest of years past.

Is this really going to turn into "wacky Irish day"? That won't be too annoying.
Irish music inspires drinking and good moods. How can you not be happy while listening to a song like "Drink & Fight." That's just good music!
