When I heard Miles Davis on the show I thought it sounded pretty cool so I went out and bought the CD 'Kind of Blue' this weekend. It's nice to listen to when your just relaxing around the house.

I think you have me mixed up with someone who listens to show tunes. You perhaps? :) Really, the only genre of music where you can truly call someone gay for listening is showtunes. That and Yanni :)

Is he blues/jazz as well? I really don't know anything about this type of music.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather listen to Slayer.
When I try to sleep on a plane, I love me some classical music. The Jazz wakes me up whenever the inevitable horns kick in. Every 20 minutes or so the jock on the classical station will wake me up, but I don't mind.

No, sometimes there are similarities, but they're basically two different things.

I'm a classical fan too, but my favorite jazz is live in a dimly lit small club played by one of the old style small bands. The ambiance is fucking great.

I have to agree with anthony and lil jimmy... the jazz just stinks... I dont' get it and I dont' like it... classical is cool though... I can definitely listen to that as background music to unwind or whatever.

Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" is my favorite.
It takes some effort to learn to appreciate jazz, but it's worth it. The music is much more rich and complex than anything that has been popular for the past 30 years or so.

Contemporary jazz is awesome. XM has some really good stations for jazz also.

A great album of Miles' is "Bitches Brew". It has some wacked out shit on there with crazy effect on his horn. One of his best.
Also try some Roland Kirk.
