OK, here's the deal. WNEW was a FAILURE of a radio station. Opie & Anthony were the only salvageable elements of an abysmal disaster. In New York City, the largest radio market in the country, this radio station attracted a listener base that was roughly the equivalent of a small Iowa farm town. People in NYC hated the station, and this is an apparent and widely known fact.

Why am I restating this? Simple. Why on earth would XM recreate a failure? Creating a station based on the WNEW format would be like re-releasing the Edsel. Just because a handful of people on a messageboard liked it is not sufficient impetus to resurrect an awful format. It does not matter if it's a different platform, no commercials, freedom to curse, whatever. Of the nine million people in NYC, only a handful listened to WNEW. A small handful. Why would XM recreate this travesty? Please, thrill us with your acumen.

To answer Bach's question of why would XM re-create a failed format, because it would work stupid (no offense, I've always wanted to say that.) Ron and Fez were pretty popular doing the evening drive after O&A signed off. Yes a lot of O&A listeners were R&F fans too. But they did their own thing separate from O&A and had their own following. Ferrall has a following in a few major markets, one of them being L.A. That isn't the point though, the facts as they exist are Ron and Fez are going to sign on with either XM or the little doggy company. It would make perfect sense for O&A to add them on to the <insert name here> channel.

Let's not forget that the b-b-b-boys know what the eff they are doing and we should just stick to listening to good radio.

BTW I think The Virus sounds good. Or how about Master Po's Dojo.
