STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH

After tough negotiations and much personal deliberation, STAR WARS EPISODE III is coming to the Transit Drive-in Theatre. The first showing will be Wednesday evening/Thursday morning, at 12:01am, followed by regular showings at 9pm and 12am on Thursday, May 19, through the next several weeks.

Due to contractual obligations, there will be no second feature showing with STAR WARS EPISODE III for the first two full weeks. All patrons must exit the theatre at the end of the STAR WARS movie to create room for the 12am showing. This is a contractual requirement from the film studio, 20th Century Fox, which we must follow in order to play their movie and abide by the conditions of the STAR WARS licensing agreement.

In anticipation of playing STAR WARS, the Transit Drive-in Theatre is having a new DOLBY DIGITAL SOUND PROCESSOR installed on our 100 foot wide main screen, replacing our regular analog sound processor. This will make the Transit Drive-in one of only a handful of drive-ins nationwide to use DOLBY DIGITAL AUDIO PROCESSING for their sound track playback. I know of only 3 other drive-ins in the country which use digital sound, one is in Washington, one is in Texas, and the other is in Kansas. No other drive-in theatre in New York State or anywhere else in Northeast America will have a higher quality sound reproduction than at the Transit Drive-in, with this upgrade.

MLB sells online feeds of their programming, XM does not have an online license for it, much like they don't have licenses for much of their other hosted (not original) programming like ABC news or the truckin bozo show.

XM provides online feeds for most of their original material (but for some reason not Home Plate), and all their syndicated material is satellite only.

Some people rarely need the antenna. In NYC, you don't usually need one- out on the Island though, I have problems without it. Opie, I'm sure, doesn't need an antenna in Central Park- plenty of repeaters.

First of all, you have to activate 911 separately.. Then, it is not "Enhanced 911", like you have with Verizon, in that it goes right to your local PD. It goes to your nearest PSAP (Public Safety Access Point), which is usually your county sherriff's department, and then you will be connected to your local PD from there. It is the same system as if you were to call 911 from a cell phone. It works this way, because the big phone co's will not give the VoIP providers access to the E-911 system.

End of this week, the FCC is going to unveil new regulations about this, forcing the baby bells to open the E-911 system. This was brought about because of an incident in Houston and an incident in Florida, where people died because of the increased response time created by the PSAP-911 system. Vonage should have E-911 by the end of this year.

I got Vonage in November, and I love it.. Verizon was ****** me for $110 a month for 2 lines. Now with Vonage I pay $48. What I did was set up the account, and checked the option to keep my phone number. In order to transfer your number, you must fax in a written authorization form. So I just tried it out for a month to make sure it worked good, before I sent in the form. It is indistinguishable from the Verizon service.

HOWEVER, there are a few "bhuts"..

This only works with BROADBAND internet. Not dialup, not ISDN.

If you have a DSL line, you CAN NOT transfer your number and ditch Verizon. Reason is DSL comes in over the phoen line, and if your number is transferred, the DSL will be disconnected. ** Verizon FIOS Fiber service is eligible, because it is not tied to the phone number **

If you have a monitored alarm system, you will have to get a special broadband modem for your alarm panel, otherwise its reliability will be compromised. You can contact your monitoring company to buy this - it should sell for around $120-130.
