Why do you have to start a new thread to ask a question? Half the threads in the O&A vs. Other Radio Hosts forum are about Howard in some way, you could ask your question there instead of using your fifth post to piss and moan about how things are run.

That's just been my experience.

I still don't see how new questions take up more bandwidth than huge threads about nothing.

When I come to this board, I look for titles of threads that may interest me. I don't read every single thread. I assume others do the same.

This system was put in place because there are so many people asking the same questions, posting the same threads on the same topics over and over. Every time someone posts a new thread on a topic already covered and it is allowed to stay open, you essentially lose all the information and all the jokes and posts that were in the old thread. Everything becomes redundant. The problem is that alot of new people come in with questions and comments and want to post them but don't want to read what other people have to say, even though most of the comments and questions that they have were already covered. So they want to start new threads. I challenge you to find any message board that will allow people to ask the same questions and make the same comments over and over. This is the reason the system was put in place. To force people to read what others have to say. To force them to either become part of the Wackbag family and become a responsible poster that can contribute or move on and annoy other people.

I have been reading posts on this site for years, I finally decided to join in like Dec. and I have NO problems using the search function, alright maybe once i was looking for something and i had to get REAL specific to find the thread i was looking for, but I have absolutely no qualms about the way this site is run.
I don't have 20 hours a day to read through pointless threads, so i am glad we r requested to use open, existing threads to post our opinions and/or questions....it makes the board less cluttered, and easier to use, and it allows us to read what others may have already said about the topic.....and that alone makes this board more gooder

Also - the two threads you bumped were 1 - to talk about lady Di on Today's show - even though the bit was very old, it should have been discussed in the Listening Thread, and 2 - looking for the Jimmy Stuart Tech-Support bit, which you would have had much more luck in the SU forum.

If you had started new threads on either topic, they would have been locked and you would have been redirected to those places as well.

It's really simple. If you do a search and find a thread that's a few days old, just use the existing thread. If you only find threads that are years or even months old, make a new thread.

Some of the stuff, while discussed on the show merits it's own discussion - IE - the Master Po / Star Wars thread & the Channel 2 thing - because they take on a life of their own.

Another usefull tool for the board is the ability to search within a thread. For example, if you wanted to search in the daily listening thread for "[insert topic here]" click on the "Search This Thread" link at the top of that particular thread you're viewing, and type in your search!

Why is posting on a messageboard suddenly more complicated than quantum physics for some people? In my time here I've seen new folks come in, learn the system quickly, and become great contributing members.

When I joined it took me literally two days at the most to browse around and figure out the vibe of the joint before starting to post. I learned, I posted, I contributed. The problem with most new folks is they don't want to invest any time at all to learn the system -- but there's really not much to learn. In fact, there's only two things in total. Let's review...

1) The Opie & Anthony Show - Learn about its history and its present. Go to www.opieandanthony.com and start reading.

2) Board Rules - Read the FAQ. If it takes you more than three minutes to accomplish this, consider taking a fundamental linguistics course. Go to http://www.wackbag.com/faq.php? and start reading.

That's it. Two simple things to get up to speed on before you can become a contributing member. Then there will be no need to bitch and moan at members who flame you for ignoring rules or complain about fascist moderators. Then all will be right with the world. Won't you do your part?

This happened b/c Stingray said not to allow any posts linking the phone calls. When it was deemed that wackbag would be safe of any legal trouble (remember, the calls got some legal stuff going on) that stuff was able to be talked about on the board again.

People want to post, they want say what they want to say and ask what the want to ask but they don't give a shit about what anyone else has to say. So they don't read anything. A message board is like a conversation but you have to read what others say for it to work, otherwise your just preaching. If you have a question and there is a 10 page thread on the topic that you don't have time to read through you, you should use the "Search this thread" tool to try and find it. If that doesn't work, ask your question or make your comment in the existing thread. What you shouldn't do is think you are the most important person in the world and your question or comment is so imporant that it must be immediately answered or read so you start a new thread.

Okay, I have heard this enough times. Do you realize that xm has units just as large as sirius. I am a HUGE OnA fan, but I think they should calm down with the size issue since it isn't such a huge difference like they imply. It sounds alot like someone bashing without knowing what they are talking about. Before you all get worked up bashing me I own a Myfi and a roady 2 as well as a sirius unit that is larger than my roady but smaller than my Myfi.
