I'm puzzled when the boys joke about how big the Sirius units are...they're no bigger then XM's SkyFi units...and the other ones are not much bigger then the MyFi...it's not really even funny anymore.

They're clunky pieces of shit. If you don't think so, go waste your money on the new "portable unit."

The JVC Sirius unit I have is HUGE. It really does look like a fish finder. It is about 9 inches tall.

I have to agree about the size thing. I am a O+A fan from way back to the NEW days and when they got booted I went satallite shopping
I chose XM then only because it was cheaper (9.99 compared to 12.99) Both companies (at least at that time) seemed to have the same channel selection
As for the units (at least two + years ago) they were pretty much the same size.
I had no idea O+A would come back to radio on XM, just got lucky with that.
By the way, the unit I bought was the original Roady, which I have upgraded to the MyFi
The obvious thing XM hardware has over Sirius these days is the MyFi. In that way XM is way better (Recording 5 hours is an extremely cool feature). But I've never really noticed a "size" difference either.

They're joking about the Sirius units because they're supposed to be portable. The SkyFi is not. I thought that was pretty obvious.

When I shopped for the units, the Sirius units were too odd to fit in with the car's interior. That was one of the deciding factors, plus look at who was making the units at the time Alpine, Sony for XM or Audiovox for Sirius.
A key issue being overlooked is aesthetics. The XM units are sleek and streamlined. They are attractive to the eye and slick to look at. They turn heads, as they have clean lines. The Sirius units are bulky -- maybe not in overall dimensions, but they are "clunky" to look at. Large knobs and buttons, big orange display, and choppy lines. It's not visually pleasant. Take the ReGo and the MyFi -- the MyFi sits in a slick little cradle. The ReGo sits on a huge base, with a large suction cup mount. It resembles a plunger.
Maybe the units are the same in size (though I doubt the MyFi is the same size as the ReGo,) but when it comes to aesthetics and just looking "cool," XM runs the doggie over.

Damn Bach...once again you nailed it. XM units (while I really don't think there's a considerable size difference) look much better.
I got my MyFi as a gift from the inlaws and when I unpacked it I just stared at it like a moron for like 10 minutes. At work people come up to me almost daily and say "What is that thing?"
It's noticeable, "Turns heads" if I may be so bold
Thanks for pointing that out sir.

Precisely. Sirius devices are akin to a "My First Sony" tape recorder.
The comparison of the modern era is as follows:
Sirius is to ENIAC, as XM is to Powerbook.

It does do that. Everytime someone asks me about mine, I use it as a chance to sell them on XM. The VP of our company now has XM because of my convincing.

Nah, They ask what the MiFi is when I am carrying it around with me since I don't leave it in my car, and I use that as a starting point to sell them on the service and why the service is superior to Sirius.

people constatly ask what my myfi is. and i tell them all about it and how it is superior to sirius, but i am a dick cuz i say nothing of how XM fucked over the metal community by taking XMLM off the air

I also was got XM before I knew O&A was coming to XM and I thank good every day I chose it over Sirius. I picked XM over the other for two reasons...Metal/Death metal music and the size. I got the XMCommander cause it’s small as shit and I could conceal it in a nice spot in my car. So at the time there was a big size difference. The only shit that sux now is that there’s no fucken Metal channel(XMLM) anymore

Dude - you just don't get it.
Go ahead and buy one of those new Sirius units - not only will you get Howard calling it in 4 days a week (unless he's on vacation in the Hamptons), but you'll get to store 44 MINUTES of it at a time!
I'm sure Lil Jimmy will be sad to see you go.
