KXLY News Four:
Homeless To Challenge Camping Ban
The battle over Spokane's camping ban continues after a homeless woman received a ticket for violating it this week.
After setting up camp near the Maple Street Bridge, Joanna Wood got a ticket for violating the city's Transient Shelter Ordinance, which was enacted last summer.
Wood tells News4 she hopes the ticket will give homeless advocate Dave Bilsland the ammunition he needs to challenge the ordinance in court.
"The goal with this is to prove it unconstitutional. It's discriminatory against people in poverty," said Bilsland.
Bilsland says he hopes to find a lawyer sometime next week. He also says he is moving forward on plans to establish a tent city.
