The one thing in this world that scares the hell out of me, not boogie men or strange noise's, but the fear of being set on fire. I can see someone being stabbed or shot on film and not even think twice, but watching someone being burned ( I have seen that in real life) scares me to my soul. Thats why I like to watch every good scene on film. Does anyone know a good fire death scene?

these where very good

the longest yard
missing in action 2
The bad seed ( this is an old film where a 10 year old girl sets a man on fire. You do not see anything but you hear him screaming , which is probably the worst part )
Damion 2

Ladder 49 is pretty good.

You don't see the guy dying, but the roof opens up and he drops straight into hell.

Not exactly a fire death, but in the Tommy Lee Jones flick Volcano, a dude jumps from a subway car that has lava underneath it w/an unconscious dude on his shoulders. He doesn't jump far enough, tosses the unconscious dude far enough after landing to save 'em, but just... melts... It's probably one of the more disturbing death scenes I've seen.

can't remember the name of the film but it had to do with a guy who was trying to turn a
girl who had potential to be the antichrist that both the devil and the lord was in a race to get to their side. The guy tried to get the girl to see that a homeless guy was beyond saving and she wouldnt do what he wanted her to. As they walk away he waits till he gets the girl around the corner he goes back and throws a match on the guy and you just hear screaming.

That was indeed a horrific and difficult scene to watch. There is also a scene where a bomb (or napalm) is set off and the explosion happens in super-slow-motion, and you see the skin getting burned off the side of this one soldier's face. Really, really fucked up.

How about the funeral pyre scene in the 3rd Lord of the Rings, when the ruler of Minas Tireth falls onto the pyre and runs down the hallway all afire and jumps off a 80-story cliff screaming in pain. Cool scene - very well shot.

Aurgh, I remember that one too. Literally, I went from watching them napalm the VC and thinking "Yeah, take that you bastards!" to watching the friendly guy get napalmed and thinking "Holy shit, mother of God" and feeling really bad cheering when the VC get bombed.
Eh, it got my sensitive side.

Hmmmmm jog the brain jog the brain...

Lets see...

Someone catches on fire and then falls down a shaft in Aliens when the Marines have their first encounter.

Apollo 13 has the lamest, wrongest re-creation of the Apollo 1 fire; boo for that scene

Doesnt DeNiro open up on the enemy with a flame thrower in Apocylypse Now?

Ahhh, yes; the Germans in Saving Private Ryan, when the flame thrower guys just open up into the bunker, and the on fire Germans are just flying out, and the soldier calls 'Dont Shoot! Let them Burn!'

Some of the nasties in John Carpenters The Thing burn up pretty good too

In the extended T2, there's a sequence where the bombing of LA is shown a lot more graphically, and there's a lot of people/stuff burning

Ok im out

One other one, that is horrific at first, but then actually kind of funny: From Dusk Till Dawn. In a gunfight they shoot liquor bottles onto a clerk behind the counter (drenching him in booze), and then they toss a lit roll of toilet paper on him. He screams and burns. Then everything is quiet, and a few seconds later it is the "Die Hard" ending where the dead guy gets up again and starts shooting again. Clooney shoots him, and he dies, but the funny part is that he flops over, and bags of popcorn around his body start popping.

Alan W Eckart is an Author that writes about history. In several of his novels he writes about the exacution of an american Colonal William Crawford by the indian nation. He was accused of killing some peacefull indians by bashing them on the head with hammers. For this he was roasted alive for up to 20 hours. His penis was shot at with black powder for the whole time. If you are interested in this Colonal william Crawford. After you read these accounts you will be truly disscusted.

The swampthing had a good "transforming scene"
James Garner was in a western where the guy from "duel" was tied to a wagon wheel and roasted over a fire. You only see him briefly but you hear him screaming for a while.
The towering inferno was good. I love the part where Robert Wagoner was with his lover and said "when I was in high school I was a good athlete," he puts a small towel on his head and immediately burst into flame. It alway reminded me of when Opie threw the pocker chips and said "I was a pretty good athlete in High School"

In the original version of The Longest Yard, the scene where that snitch guy burned Caretaker alive in his cell was pretty creepy.

I do believe he was hit with napalm in the face but I thought that one of the other soldiers (medic maybe?) took a ka-bar knife and cut the burning skin off his face. I could be wrong, but that was a truly horrific scene.

I believe the movie I was talking about was called "bless the child" it came out like 2 or 3 years ago. Others probably hated it but I thought it was pretty good, Rufus Sewell did a good job of playing one of the devil's recruiters. If I'm wrong maybe some will correct me, surprisingly this thread isnt bothering me like I thought it would since found out yesterday a relative of mine committed suicide last weekend by setting themselves on fire.

Burning to death is a horrible way to die. A person dies when ones major organs stop working. In the case of fire the organs are only bothered by the smoke, so in theory If the fire doesn't go into the victims wind pipe, the death could last a very long time. I refer back to the death of Colonal William Crawford. He was baked for as long as 20 hours, by the sioux.

The only saving grace about really bad (3rd degree--charring) burns is that the damage is so extensive that the nerves are killed, and thus there isn't much pain. So the most painful burns are second degree (blistering)

Right, but what doesn't burn hurts like hell, I’ve had several small( less than the size of a .50 cent piece) 4th degree burns (flesh totally chard and destroyed down to muscle) the spot were the burn occurred didn’t hurt at all and some spots are still numb, but around the burn was just excruciating for a long time and it seemed to take forever for them to heal

My day job is an auto body repair / heavy truck mechanic and I do a lot of cutting and welding. at night I blow glass so I’m around a lot of very hot stuff. My worst burn I got was between my fingers one night lighting my glass blowing torch, I was so drunk I knew that I burned myself but paid it no mind because it didn’t hurt. The next morning when I got up there was meat hanging from between my fingers and it took 2mos before I could bend the middle finger on my left hand. I also had a blob of molten steel drop into my boot and cook its self into the top of my foot. I had to dig the chunk out, that didn’t hurt either for about 3 days, then my foot swelled up. I don’t ware boots at work any more because of it. Oh, and I get mad at myself and like to put cigarettes out on my thighs every once in a while, but I don’t do that since I started taking my meds
