You are going to get golfers at any of them when the government checks drop, which is also the worst time to go….odds wise that is

there are pretty cheap buses, which if you are willing to risk your life taking, will take you to any of these places. they have stops at all of them but they do stop running at around 11 i think so if you want to stay out later youll need to catch a cab. cab prices arent that bad either though.. typical cab rate.

I'm going down on the 25th, staying at the Borgata for a bachelor party. I've been down there a few times, it is kinda a dump of a city--most certainly NOT Vegas! But I've heard really good things about the Borgata, so I am psyched. The Trop is a dump, but the good thing about such a shithole is that you will probably be able to find low blackjack minimum tables.

The Borgata is by far the nicest casino, but you should walk the boards
and check them all out. Caesar's is probably the nicest one on the beach.

If you want to see a real treat about AC, try to get your hands on (either via On Demand, or if possible at the video store, etc.) the documentary HBO did a year or two about hookers in Atlantic City. It was a spin-off of the series they did about Hunts Point here in NYC...really shows what a craphole AC is.

I was at The Borgata last night to see a comic I really don't care for. It is easily the nicest casino in AC. I also like Tropicana since they renovated it. It is really nice now.

I haven't been there either, turned 21 4 months ago but haven't made it down yet. Does anyone know if it's hard to get into tounraments for hold em, or is it basically all huge tournaments and impossible to get in? I only ask because since I've started playing hold em tournaments a couple of years ago I basically haven't played anything else and right now it's the only thing I am comfortable with.

I would like to say I have not been to the Tropicana since it has been renovated, so my comments earlier refer to its pre-renovation days (circa 1999). Now, it very well may be dandy.

Fuck A.C., it is a hell hole. Save up your money and go to Vegas. You can get round trip air fare for under $300 no problem, and you can get a room cheaper there, so it kind of evens out.

The Borgata is the just about the furthest away from the strip , therefore the least amopunt of old people, golfers, and basically undesirables. Thing is DO NOT go off the strip for any reason. The surrounding area has white trash and savages, and they are not to friendly. But for niceness it is the Borgata

I just got back from A.C. so here are my thoughts.

On the boardwalk, I don't think you can beat Casears, although I will say that I didn't make it to the Trop and my friends who have been there since it was renovated say it is really nice so it's probably worth checking out.

Everything to say about the Borgata has already been said, go.

I also have to mention Bally's since I won $300 on two spins of the roulette wheel at 3am just to make get me to even on Saturday night.

If you're looking for a nice restaurant to go to, I'll suggest Tun Tavern. It's off the boardwalk, microbrewery/steakhouse type of place. Unless it's taken a drastic downturn in the last two years it's worth checking out.

Vegas blows A.C. away. You can always get a machine or a seat at a table and you can get a $5 minimum bet on a table any night of the week unlike A.C. Everything there is cheaper 'cause they want you to spend your cash in the casinos. They did it right.

Well Jesus people, nobody is sitting here even trying to compare Vegas and Atlantic City, it's not even close. But the fact is that you can go to Atlantic City for a day, without spending much on transportation, and do some good gambling without having to fly across the country. Yes, Vegas is better, but this guy is going to AC and is looking for some suggestions. Coming in to say Vegas is better is pointless.

The new part of the Trop is nicely done however its still filled with awful white trash and golfers just like the older part, stay clear and go to Caesars or Borgata if you decide to do both go to Caesars FIRST its a pain in the ass to get from the Borgata back to the strip

I do security work in Atlantic City so Im there all the time. Without a doubt go to Borgata. It is set up for a much younger crowd. From the bars to the music they play over the PA system. The place just rocks!!!! The new "Quarter" at the Tropicana is really nice too. There are a few specialty bars there that are worth checking out.

Borgata is the nicest, but if you want to stay on the ocean side of AC, i like the Taj. Ive read that the Trop has been renovated but Anthony was just saying that the place needs to be modernized.. Did they only redo the casino portion and not the hotels?

Harras Buffet is probably the greatest thing ever. $25 stuff your face for hours with anything you can imagine.

They have this scrambled egg thing with bits of salmon in it... really good. But eat too much, and you might be puking like Pat from Moonachie. I like Harrahs, actually... doesn't seem too expensive for a suite if you're going down with a bunch of guys. If everyone tosses in $20, you could get a really decent room.

Only thing, though... I went down on a Friday/Saturday... and could only find tables with minimums of $15/bet. Kinda pricey, and if you get into a losing streak like I did... you could blow your load pretty quick.

I gotta head back down there soon... I need to win some of my cash back!

BTW... How does Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun compare to the AC casinos?

BTW... How does Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun compare to the AC casinos?

MUCH nicer. I've been to both, and they are great. The Foxwoods is really amazing, huge, very nice, well taken care of, etc. The only problem with them is that they are not close enough to walk/cab to, so you really have to make a choice and stick with one. Also, there is NOTHING else around, so if you get sick of gambling and don't want to eat/shop, all you can do is hang in your room (as opposed to walking down the Boardwalk in AC, trying a different casino, etc.).

Borgata is great, but very crowded on the weekends and its not on the boardwalk so its not as easy to go somewhere else if you get fed up with all the rich kids blowing daddy's money. Taj is nice. Trop is good now that the Quarter is open, and I like their poker room. Plus you can usually find cheap ass tables ($10 BJ & Roulette...I've even heard of $5 tables there) Depending on when you go House of Blues is opening in the Showboat, that should be pretty cool...Just stay away from Harrahs..they suck ass & apparently like to have trainees work the tables @ peak hours. For food, the Quarter is nice, Caesars & Taj have good places. If you are feeling adventurous take a cab or drive to Arctic ave and get a Hoagie @ a place called the White house, if ur stuck with a chick they just opened an assload of outlets by the convention center, and if its just guys or you can ditch the chick head over to Bare Exposure on Pacific...topless & bottomless, usually a couple of really hot chciks there too & i think they are opened till like 6 am

Here is my point, I have been to A.C. once in SIXTEEN years! I would not want to go there for five minutes let alone one day. I am giving him advice, and telling him stay out of the golfer infested shit hole that is Atlantic City. The Trump Marina has the BEST Sunday brunch EVER! Don't eat for 2 days before. They serve shrimp bigger than you and their lox are awesome. Plus they serve these puffy doughy things that are amazing. The desserts are overwhelming. Chocolate lovers dream, serious overload. Forget the omlets (even though they are good) and stick with everything else. It really is worth going down there for it. It is away from the boardwalk but make the trip. You won't be disappointed.

Perhaps you don't get it. Instead of spending 700 bucks on transportation to get to vegas (2 seats @ 350 each) and more money on hotels, rental car, etc. He'd rather drop 100 bucks on transporation and spend the rest of the money having a good time.

I go to AC quite a bit. I used to go at least once a week to play poker (sometimes 2 or 3 times). While it isn't vegas, its a good time if you like to play. I play at the Taj or the Borgata. I like the old, slightly rundown fell of the Taj. It has a homey old world type feel.

He's not looking to go hang out in the city of AC, he's looking to have a good time. Staying on the boards and checking out the various casinos (I HATE ceasars...) is a good time. Hanging out and watching the sunrise on the boardwalk, then spending some time on the beach before you go in and gamble your day away is FUN.

Having the 24/7 insane rush of Vegas is great if you're into that. I like the laid back, calm of Atlantic City. When I want to go with the rest of the douchebags and piss money away in SinCity, I'll hop on a jet. Until then, I'm happy taking my 40 minute drive to go play my poker.

Yes. I dont remember how much. Certainly not cheap, sorry to say. It isn't one of the $6.00 all you can eat things. Prob $25.00 per person or so. You won't need to eat for the rest of the day though so it is worth the price. I think a drink is included too but I can't swear to it. Give them a call. I really recommend it. My folks are big gamblers and get comped everywhere. So I have stayed everywhere riding their coattails. I love a good brunch buffet and I think it is one of the best I have had.

Probably not. I don't play blackjack, but from what I have seen, table minimums are very much on the high side on Saturday nights. Others who saw Jimmy there can correct me if I am wrong, but I think I recall something like 25 dollar minimums.

I am a cheap fuck. I look for the lowest minimums in town. The crappy hotel in Vegas I used to go with for 3 dollar blackjack was torn down this past winter, so this summer is gonna be more expensive. I still know a place with two dollar craps, so it won't be that bad.

Yeah I think lil' Jimmy was the last time I was at the Borgata...a couple of $25 tables but they were jammed the rest were $50+. We ended up going to the Trump Marina, which is really close by (Borgata, Trump Marina, and that shithole Harrah's make up the 'Marina' section away from the boardwalk) & they had plenty of $15 and even a $10 on Sat. night...also a tip don't know how you are getting around but if you are driving from casino to casino make sure to get a transfer when you leave the parking lot. The douche bags in AC decided to charge a parking tax so now most places you have to pay for parking, the only good thing is you only have to pay once in a 24 hour period so if you get a transfer you can hop from place to place w/o paying parking everywhere.

I was just in AC this past Saturday, at Caesars the minimums for blackjack went up to $25 around 8-8:30pm and stayed there the remainder of the night. I walked into Bally's at 3am and the lowest minimum for blackjack was $25. You may be able to find cheaper tables at the Trop, it was that way 2 years or so ago but I'm not sure if it still is.

Three dollar blackjack, two dollar craps? Going to Las Vegas and playing those kind of limits is like the tourists that come to NYC for the first time and eat at McDonald's and Olive Garden. Maybe you're just going for the spectacle of Vegas, but if you're going to gamble, I just don't see any point in doing it that way.

I do it that way because I know I am going to loose. Finding the super cheap minimum bets helps me minimize my losses. I enjoy having a few drinks and playing the games, not chasing that dream of breaking the bank. That is also the reason I only play Blackjack and Craps. Those are the two games with the best odds if you know how to play them right.

I like Caesars because its at the end of the AC express way and I don’t have to wined my way thought the rest of the shit hole they call a city. If your going I would hit the Borgatá first un less you want a tour of down town shit hole USA. I wouldn’t waste time going any where else. The only luck I ever have “gaming” is early Sunday morning 9-10 am most of the weekenders are sleeping off there benders and all you have to put up with is the fucking rude gooks and some of the left over degenerates from the night before. The Borgatá on sat night is just a waste of time if you want to play anything other than slots and look at the young scantily clad sluts that are looking to spend there rich boyfriends money

Comparing Vegas to A.C. is comparing APPLES to ORANGES!!!

There is nothing around Vegas, the "typical" visitor will to go there for 3-4 day stretches, you lower the minimums you allow people to try and get more people to play because "its chreap". On the other hand there are 2 relatively large cities (Phila/NYC) with in a 2 hour ride of A.C. The "typical" visitor to A.C. is a 5-8 hour "road-trip" so they try and make up for that by making the stakes higher.

When I was at the Borgata to see Jimmy, at 8 all of the black jack tables were already $50 minimums and all of the tables were jammed with people playing. So its not like people aren't playing in A.C. because it costs more to play. To be fair though, there were some $15 craps and roulette tables when we were there.

The Borgata is, as many others have said, the crown jewel so-to-speak of Atlantic City. I've spent alot of time at the Hilton. The problem there is too many old Jews. Not that I have anything against Jews, young or old. But, I always seem to get stuck behind them when they have some minor problem and are over-complaining and such in order to either get money back or get something for free.

A real hidden treasure is the Trump Marina. I really like that place, alot. I never really got into the Taj, or any of the other ones. Nothing really stood out for me about any of them.

I do not play at these tables (I would kill the rubes splitting tens!), I was just replying to the fine gentleman who was talking about stretching his dollar. I do not think they offer limits this low anymore, but am not sure as I do not go downtown very often. Hell, you have to play $25 or above on the strip to even get rated.
