Sorry to start a new thread just to go off on a rant but fucking J.C. from North Carolina who called the show today pissed me off so bad (HooHoo, sorry to rip you off Jimmy) that I wanted to bite him. New Yorker's dont think we own 9/11. Yes we know other things happened that day but what happened in the city is in our face every day. And Im not just talking about the huge fucking hole in the ground. Im talking about how every time you go in the subway, or get on a bus, or go over a bridge or through a tunnel, or attened a major sporting event you know in the back of your mind that you are a target. Yeah we got on with it but its still there. Were the fuck in North Carolina do you go day in and day out where you have to feel that way???

Again sorry to go off like that but he pissed me off big time.

I live in NC and the only place I go that I do feel like a target is on I-77 because the people on the highways drive like fucking idiots. Every single day some jackhole rearends the car in front of them and causes the entire daily commute to be delayed by an hour, sometimes hours.

Charlotte NC is one the biggest banking cities in the US, with many major companies here and one major bank HQ'd here. If there ever was a terrorist attack in NC this would be one of the likely targets. FYI.

I'm definitely not the jackass you posted your FU to, just one that agree's with you. There's no shortage of people here in NC that I want to FU on a daily basis. :icon_lol:

I'm also from NC and I don't remember how many, but at least one local TV station had a special about a pharmaceutical plant that exploded in late January 2003 and killed three people. Without having heard all the details and numbers beforehand, you would have sworn they were talking about an attack similar to that on the World Trade Center right down to constant use of the word "tragedy" and many slow-moving pictures of the smoking remains of the plant. As a matter of fact, I believe the special was called "A Local Tragedy". Anyway, the cause was an accumulation of plastic above the plant ceiling, not terrorists and hijacked planes! Just shows you how little this area seems to think of REAL tragedy. I apologize to all New Yorkers for that asshole's comments.

Sorry if I came off like I was pissed at everyone from North Carolina yesterday. Truth be told my father lives on Lake Gaston, N.C. That tool just really pissed me off. I didnt want to sound like there is nothing important in the state or to the people that live there.

No offense taken. :)

I forgot to mention that where I live, Huntersville NC there's McGuire Nuclear Power Plant which is about a 10 minute drive from my apartment. That's always a nice little prize to meltdown for a band of terrorists. If that sucker ever melt's down I'm up shit creek without the boat and the paddle.

9/11 is synonymous with the collapse World Trade Center, but they aren't the same thing. Everyone in the country has been effected by 9/11, some more directly than others. WTC, on the other hand, affected millions of people in the area because 200 floors basically disintegrated. I was in Jersey 2 weeks after and you could still smell things burning.
So the further you go from New York, the more 9/11 encompasses WTC, Pentagon, planes crashing, and all the things that are different "since 9/11". 9/11 and World Trade Center aren't the same thing, but (for justifiable reasons) the closer to lower Manhattan you were that day, the more WTC overshadows everything else and they become equals.
