will it be possible to install hl2 onto another computer even though its registered on steam? will i have to somehow cancel the registration with steam then start over?

btw, thanks to all who helped with my last question, i am the biggest rube when it comes to pc problems

I'm pretty sure you can install the game. You just can't be logged in on another machine with your existing account at the same time.

I could be wrong but I think that's how it works.

yeah, I have it installed on my desktop and laptop. I havn't tried running HL2 on both PCs at the same time, but you can definatly run it on 1 PC at a time.

My cousin installed it on his computer in college. We tried playing together, but it won't allow it. However, when we tried (a little bit after it came out), we WERE able to be online at the same time in DIFFERENT games. Haven't tried playing in the same game on two computers on the same network.

u can install steam and the games u own on as many computers as u like
u cant play the same steam id on the same server (i guess that means in diff servers its ok but not sure. i didnt think u could b logged into steam at 2 locations at once)
on a lan u can use the same copy (i believe, havnt tried)
the id's are checked thru a master server so u can play hl2 as long as one of the computers is not connected to the internet (offline mode)
