I just got the new version of itunes that supports podcasting. I really think XM are fucking fools if they don't put some of their exclusive content to subscribe to on this.
For some low monthly fee it could really open O&A up to people around the world. Who knows, maybe even bob edwards can strangle audio downloaders around thew world with his own boring brand of radio. Anyway, check it out its pretty good.

XM has that Audibles.com (audio book service) coming on line at the end of the year.
Podcasting is a fad and I don't think XM wants to be considered a fad, IMO.

OK, so who here is going to admit to downloading the NYRMB Podcast? ;)

yea, but be realistic. A hell of a lot more people have itunes on there computer than audibles.com stuff. And its doubtful that Audibles is ever gonna be a fraction as popular as itunes or have a fraction of the user base.
also, i do acknowledge the podcasting being a fad on the amatuer level of nobody's posting stuff. But i think its pretty valuable as far as podcasts from news/television and real radio sources.

You can download Audible content directly from iTMS too.
Would O&A want to be classified with the Z Morning Zoo people?

Hopefully XM will smarten up and eventually make a portable receiver that doubles as an mp3 player.

iTMS is only available to people who live in the US, same as XM online.
It would only work if XM signed a deal with the every country's individual iTMS, and even then countries like Australia that dont have an iTMS would still be fucked.
Great thought, and something that I'd love to see happen, but i seriously doubt it'll happen for a while.

They just released iTunes 4.9, with support for podcasts. Plus, the new 20GB color screen iPod is available now. (AND I JUST BOUGHT AN IPOD 2 MONTHS AGO. FUCK!)

Hopefully, there will be one available around the third or fourth quarter of this year.
Can you say Hoo Hoo who?

i think XM should publish a 1-2 hour 'worst of' podcast each week... and make it free. and they can lace it with xm/o&a promos. would be a great way to get 'sample content' out there to large groups of people. i think podcasting is going to take off like blogging did... everyone is gonna have their own podcast eventually.

Everywhere you go, there will be some tool spouting his or her opinions on air. Scary thought! :)
Okay, I can't deny I have always wanted to broadcast a pirate radio station myself. I'm one of those tools, fo sho.

Yeah, i just started this thread because the podcast thing on the new itunes looks like its gonna be a pretty big deal. And that can be major exposure for such a small investment (posting samples or shows).

I agree about having some sort of O&A or Norton podcast. A 'worst-of' sounds like a great idea. Definately would hook some people that would not otherwise find the show. I started looking through the list the moment I upgraded iTunes and I'm sure lots of others do the same. Seems like a great opportunity for some free advertising for the show and for xm as well.
