Hey all.
Just purchased an account on giganews.com and newzbin.com for header access. Using Newsbin Pro as my reader.
I can't seem to get the reader to dl file header info to download files from giganews. I'm starting to get seriously annoyed with this shit. Is there anyone out there using newsgroups, who may be able to tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

You can save yourself a shitload of frustration and purchase an account at www.easynews.com once your month is up at giga. Best service on the net in my opinion and it has a neat search function. Good luck!

i second that... and since you have a newzbin account, you can just download the .nzb files from newzbin and then use the easynews.com zip manager (all built into their website, no need for any newsgroup readers) to load the .nzb and download the files. quick and easy.
plus easynews speeds rule... they maxed out my optonline connection (and they max out my comcrap connection now).
fuck giganews, i get 2 free gigs from them each month through comcrap but i rarely use them. the only thing giganews has over easynews is retention... giganews: 45-60days, easynews: 30days

Are you getting any error messages when you try to retreive headers? Did you check the log file for errors? Can you download anything (files usng an .nzb from newzbin for example)?
You might want to give Newsleecher a try. A lot of people find it easier to use than Newsbin Pro.

Got it working. I think I had a funky copy of the proggie. Re-dl'ed it, and now it works fine, if a bit slowly.
