This sucks balls, out of nowhere my fucking computer stopped connecting to XM online on Friday. It still works on all the other computers and at work, but not mine. It gets stuck at "connecting to media" and it doesn't move foward.

I'm on a linksys router, firewall is off. I checked the settings of the router and I didin't see anything out of the ordinary. I also have Norton Anti-virus too, but nothing seems out of the ordinary either.

I've made sure to log out of those sessions in case that was a problem(which never was in the past) and I deleted cookies too, in case that was doing something but to no avail. I'm using listen.xmonline.com as my place to log in. Also tried through media player but nothing.

Is there maybe a port I need to open? Maybe a setting was changed that I didn't realized happen? My computer(winXP) DID update itself and reboot during the night before I noticed this happened so it could be something. Any thoughts on what I can do?

And YES I did post about it on xm411.com but haven't gotten much help there, so that's why I'm asking here.

Check the security setting in the browser itself. Which one are you using?

Internet Explorer.

I've checked the security settings, nothing was changed. In fact I've even lighten up on some of the security stuff to see if that would help, but it didn't.

you can fix the problem in 3 easy steps...

Step 1. - Get Hammer
Step 2. - Bash the everliving shit out of your computer
Step 3. - Buy new computer

Can you do a system restore???

I have my IE settings on medium and it seems to work. Reading the XM Online technical FAQ says that certain pop-up/ad software blockers could impact the service.

http://xmro.xmradio.com/xstream/faqs/xmro_faqs_tech.jsp

If it's not that - I suspect that it is - I'd check and see if an IT guy blocked you from accessing the site or something.

If youre using XP sp2, go into a dos window and type:

netsh winsock reset

Then reboot.

Also reboot your router. Linksys' routers are famous for getting icky after awhile.

This will restore tcp/ip settings to default and clear out any corruption that may have happened. The only warning with this is if you have static ip or dns info entered in, you'll have to reenter it.

Let me know if it works.

tried changing the security to medium, and I did that winsock reset, still nothing. This is really beginning to piss me the fuck off. And yes I made sure my pop-up blockers were off.
