Well, the lobbyist in the White House and Soccer Mom's all over can rejoice, the ESRB has changed the rating of GTA:SA from an M to A for adults only. Now that the game is a new rating, does that make the ones with the M rating a collector's item?

As far as Ant's argument goes about this being a politicians way to essentially "ban" these types of videogames, without actually taking them off the shelves themselves, I think his argument is misled. He said that the way they do this is by rating these games "A" and that retailers will eventually no longer carry them because they won't retain their ability to market and/or sell games to children...I might have his argument wrong, perhaps he can correct me if this isn't correct, but I dont have the MP3 of that show on me, as I'm at work. But this may be true for places such as toys r us and walmart, who have strict regulations on what they sell to begin with...but I have a hard time believing that places like CompUSA, EBGames, gamestop, and any internet retailer will have moral qualms about carrying these games...they carry any software out there, as long as they know it will sell, which any "A" rated game will to anyone 18+ ... the majority of the gaming community.

90% of what our taxpayer money goes to is bullshit. I can't say something like this really surprises me.

the only thing that changes is parents will buy ever other 'm' or 'a' game for their shithead kids aslong as it's not gta....

I just picked mine up at Circuit City tonight after all this shit. The lady behind the counter said something to the effect of "good thing you got it now before we discontinued it"
Best Buy took them off their shelves. The guy there said they were in the back room, he tried to get me one but could'nt. He also said they're sending them back and will get the new "clean" version.

I absolutely hate that politicians putting their nose into something they don't belong/understand. Remember the conversation a long time ago on the show when they say older people just lose touch with technology and games? THEY ARE ALL 50+ YEAR OLDS. They wouldn't understand what mods are and how/where you get them, so it's easy just to blame the game becuase the mod goes with the game.
It'll be intresting to aim and shoot with a cell phone. "Clean version" Faggots.

Exactly. Putting a new label on the game won't stop parents from buying it for their children. Same with the previous "M" rating. Same with the "Explicit Lyrics" label on music CDs. It's all on the parents.

I gotta disagree with you.
Nobody's gonna want to carry A/O games in store because everyone associates Adults Only to Porn and these companies don't want to be bothered with the "potential" hassle of being smeared as a smut peddler because a kid might be in the store...

Well, I guess time will tell. If they're taken off the shelves everywhere, then I'll eat crow...But the games will still carry a high demand, and anywhere that chooses to carry them will have an edge on the market, assuming major retailers like Walmart, toys r us, and even Best buy wont carry them. They'd be stupid not to carry them.

who cares if sprawl-mart carries the game or not? ANyone who is actually into gaming and has a desire to play the game will get it from the internet if the dopey store down the street isn't carrying it.

I'm a democrat and this really pisses me off that Hilary would do this shit. Work on things like making sure everyone can get healthcare NOT being everyone's parent.
Does that mean the ISO I downloaded becomes a collectors item too?

You know, this bullshit is really starting to get to me. First of all, the game is rated M, which means kids can't buy it anyway. I used to work at EB, and it is policy there to card for M rated games. Most of the kids that we denied selling the game to were between 11 and 15, and 95% of the time, they came back with mom or dad, who would buy the game for the kid even after we explained the content of the game to them. Hillary needs to shut the fuck up and go after the parents that buy the damn game for the kid, then complain about its content.
Now, I've also been thinking about something. I was watching Dennis Miller: The Raw Feed the other day, and he said something to the effect of "I'm sick and tired of the government telling me how fucked up I am, then in the same breath turning around and demanding 50% of my fucked-uppedness!"
When was the last time you watched C-Span or read through all the crap that goes on in your government? When was the last time that any normal citizen had any clue what the government was buying?
I don't know about you, but I personally would like to know where my money is going. As taxpayers, don't we have the right to organize, and demand that the government come clean? Can we stop being cattle and just okaying every stupid thing without even reading it? Wasn't there a guy recently that was caught using public funds to furnish his house with like $10,000 rugs and $50,000 shower curtains? How many more of these douches are out there? Did you know your senators and representatives voted themselves a $50,000 annual "cost of living" raise? Did you know they secretly passed a law that allows them to profit from insider information from drug companies and the FDA? Let's stop this bullshit and demand full disclosure. This government could probably run lean and mean on a billion dollars a year (not counting Iraq). Why don't we hold them to it?

Remember the good 'ol days before GTA when the crime rate was near zero? Violent video games is yet another scapegoat politicians can use for the uncontrollable crimes. How about a stronger police force Hillary? How about not questioning police officers every move and not have them wonder whether or not they'll have a job by shooting a well deserved bullet. Maybe THAT would solve some problems. What they don't understand is all the free advertising the game is getting. If I worked at Rockstar, I'd be partying balls right now.... people LOVE rebelling against controversy. Keep 'er up whore bag.

People would rather sit on their asses and watch reality TV. It's a brutal truth. As much as I hate organizations like the PTC, the ACLU, etc... you gotta hand it to them, they get out there and really try to make changes. The rest of America, whether they PREFER to remain ignorant, or they just have too much shit to do, working and raising a family... can't be bothered with things like this.
As far as bogus taxes like that are imposed, the increase of the burden on the indivudual taxpayer is almost non-existant (a couple extra pennies out of your paycheck), so I think people don't think it's really worth the trouble.

I just signed that too. I can't believe this bullshit. I usually goto bestbuy for my general media shopping because their prices are good but those cocksuckers will not be getting any more of my money. I'd rather order it from a foreign owned company than those shitty douchbags taking away our freedoms and telling us what we can and can't buy. I wonder if porn shops will be carrying this game now, it'll give me a excuse to bring the GF to Giggles.

a bit off track here but: I've been considering getting this for my Xbox but don't know. I kinda liked GTA3 but hated GTA:VC. I don't like playing the missions since it gets redundant. But is it worth it for just having "havoc" fun?

im curious as to why rockstar even started developing these scenes? did they really think they had any chance in HELL to put this in the game? it seems like they put a lot of time into it before they realized "wait, this wont fly" and had thus could only remove the executing strings, not the bulk of the "sex code".
its puzzling

This is what makes me mad:
If this kid had made a MOD of a microsoft office product, revealing hidden features...he would be HACKER!!!!! and HE WOULD BE IN TROUBLE!!!!
BUT because he modded a game and found SEXUALLY ORIENTED MATERIAL, the GAME company gets in trouble and he walks free without a word.
I just dont see the problem, they thought about putting the scene in...they decided against it, so they were lazy and skipped over the code. It probably happens all the time with other software/games.
