o&a in a nut shell

If you are new listener, and don't get the references, it doesn't matter. You know why it doesn't matter?

After your initial 3-4 weeks of continous listening, you'll catch on to some of the more obvious references, and still not get others, but you will still laugh. You know why you laugh? Cause you know it's something obscure, you don't get, and thats why it's funny. You know it's obscure.


See, the thing is, it's only funny cause you don't get it. If you actually got it, it would be less funny..

The best way for new listeners to listen to o&a, is just mearly that.. Listen to them, if you don't get it, don't worry, they'll mention it 40x in the span of a month, and you eventully will.. But once you do, it's just not that funny anymore.

The point I'm trying to make is, these "hidden" "obscure" references aren't really that important to the program. Getting them is not needed to laugh, and enjoy the show. It doesn't matter anyway, over the course of a year, they'll eventully overly describe every reference in great detail...




p.s. I hope atleast one wackbagger out there "gets" this replies inside humor..

I searched for some names I use to hear and did not know who Spaz was. Who was this guy and was he on the show?

Spaz a.k.a. Kevin Martin a.k.a. K-Dogg (the radio name he wanted) was an intern for O&A at WNEW circa 1999. here's a few random facts about him:

He lived in the upstate NY town of Sloatesburg with his girlfriend Erica, whom he called "Babuh" (like "baby" but with "uh" at the end). His alma mater was Iona College. He was known for being a huge racist. He once used a credit card to buy thousands of dollars worth of clothes, computer upgrades, PlayStation games, and a weekend stay at the four-star Manhattan hotel the St. Regis, where he had his own butler that actually ironed the heavy metal t-shirt he wore to the hotel. "Blessed" the listeners with dumbass scientific insight which became a weekly segment called "Spaz's Week in Review." He often used movies and television shows as scientific references. Elaborating on one of his Week in Review segments when he talked about "super spiders" and alleging that he could easily open a safe by only using a stethoscope, O&A had him dress up in a Spider-Man costume, suspended him from the ceiling a la "Mission Impossible", and made him try to open a locked safe using a stethoscope, to which he failed. He eventually quit the show because he didn't like that O&A didn't take him seriously.

you can find several Spaz bits (not all of them, unfortunately) at spreadtheonavirus.com. you will NOT find them at oavirus.com because FedExEd still holds a grudge against Spaz. Spaz is only referred to as "dead man" on oavirus.com because he was considered "dead to the show" after quitting.
