This to be done requires a little bit of the knowledge on placing files in the PSP....thats what the sites claim, i have simplified it for everyone.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ATLEAST 16 MB AVAILABLE ON YOUR MEMORY STICK BEFORE YOU DO THIS!

First click on this link:

http://psp.ign.com/articles/637/637073p1.html

Download the .zip file and rip the EBOOT.PBP file to your desktop. Second, connect your PSP to your PSP via USB and then Start the PSP's USB Mode (Settings -> USB Connection). Third, wait until windows locates a USB Device Connected to the PC (An icon appears in your Taskbar next to your Clock) and click on My Computer, once connected you'll see a new drive called "Removable Disk" double click on that to open the contents of your PSP's Memory Stick. Forth, once inside your Memory Stick, click on the folder called "PSP" then click on the "Game Folder" once inside the "Game" Folder if there is not a folder in there called "Update", simply create one but make sure when you name the folder it is spelled out in all CAPS! once that folder is created drag the EBOOT.PBP file into the folder (Not the .zip, just the file you ripped from the .zip) and then close out the window and close the USB connection by right clicking the icon in your task bar and select "Stop" on either the PSP or the USB Root Device (either will work) and then on your PSP press O and your PSP will no longer have a USB connection. Finally, on your PSP, scroll over to your Game icon and select "Memory Stick" and once you click X you notice you'll have the update in there waiting to be installed, just install it and bam, you have a whole bunch of new features on your PSP that are not yet available in the US, cool huh? Once the update is done you can scroll right on over to the "Game" icon and select the Update again and click Triangle and select Delete and you'll get that space back.

One note, make sure when you are updating the PSP that the Battery is fully charged and is still connected to the AC Adapter and the AC Adapter is still connected to a wall socket, also , i had the USB cable still connected to the PC and PSP when doing this update and it worked. Enjoy, PM me with questions. Also, this file came from Sony Of Japan so it's legal but Sony Of US does not endorse this update for the US PSP's so you have been warned if anything happens neither I or Sony Of US is responible, i have this file running smoothly on my PSP and i have no problems.

If you do this, it will update the firmware on your PSP to 2.0. You might not want to do this if you have 1.5.

1.5 can run software and ripped games from the memory stick. 2.0 can't.

When they do, I will consider upgrading.

I am just warning others that they might get more than they expected with this update.

I have not tried this myself, nor do i need to, but its still cool

Free 2GB Remote Storage on your PSP
1. Download and install the Gmail shell drive (http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/GMail-Drive-shell-extension-Download-15944.html) on your computer
2. Use it to upload your music and picture files to your Gmail account
3. Go to your browser on your PSP and navigate to your Gmail account
4. Download files (be sure to rename to ###.mp3 or ###. bmp)

Wow! Thanks for posting this! Surfing the web on my PSP is pretty damn cool.

Do you know if you can get on to IRC with a a PSP? I know there was a website that lets you get to #pspirc or something but it doesnt let you choose other servers.
