Goddamnit, won't these people stop?!?
FOX 5 in New York just reported that an 85 year old woman is suing Rockstar Videogames because she bought the game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for her 14 year old grandson, not knowing it was a game with an M (Mature) rating, even though it is CLEARLY LABELED ON THE FRONT OF THE GAME'S CASE! she's upset because the game has hidden sexual content in the game and wasn't aware of it when purchasing the game. in other words, she's blaming Rockstar for her own stupidity for buying a game aimed at adults and not noticing the rating. fucking people, man. they see a cash cow and attack like a bunch of fucking vultures. i wish Norton would bite these peoples' faces.
how out of touch with the world do you have to be to buy a controversial, adult-oriented game that has been in the media for months for a little kid?!? what, was all the press and controversy over GTA III and GTA: Vice City NOT enough of a tip-off that San Andreas might not be the best game to buy for a 14 year old? does this woman own a television or read newspapers at all? I hope Rockstar's lawyers embarass her geriatric ass in court for filing a lawsuit she will obviously lose.

You know that this is being driven by some stupid PC group or a
lawyer looking for big bucks. She's just a pawn for someone else.
I'd like to know who put her up to filing the suit.

Sad thing is, she will probably win the lawsuit when all is said and done. I say this becasue no matter what Rockstar says, in court it will be proven that they left the code for "Hot Coffee" in the release. They knew it would be hacked out of the code and passed around the internet once released on PC. A way to get a few more copies sold since the game is almost a year old now. And you kow there's no such thing as " Bad Press "in Rockstars mind.
This thing is going to blow up in there face.

This may sound harsh but i hope they countersue and bankrupt her old, gold-diggin ass. I hope she ends up dying and not having a fucking dime to her name. I don't know how it is in the north or the west but they actually check ids on these games in the south. You have to at least look old enough to buy the game to not show your id.
People will sue over anything and i wish that i was on the jury so i could just sit there and tell her to shove it up her old wrinkled ass.

The suit will be thrown out of court. If the makers wish to save some legal fees there are alternatives to silence people like her.

that said that she bought VICE CITY for her grandson, not San Andreas. Vice City doesn't have that hidden sex scene. So she is sueing over the wrong game all together.

I still don't see how a retail product which did not have access to the sex scenes is being attacked because it was modded to access them.
We need loser-pays laws.
Exactly, but there are too many lawyers in positions to kill it.
Just because her dumb ignorant ass didn't even bother to read the box. Cunts like this one are what destroyed this country, too many PC douches that should be shipped off to China, never to be heard from again

I am so sick of this shit.
They should all be lined up and shot. Poiticians and everyone else.
People..no excuse me, Americans (and I am red blooded born in the usa and respect those that give their ives for us, but) are fucking morons.
This is a parental issue into a legal issue.
Go back 10+ yrs ago and this would not be an issue. Dad would smack the shit out of you if THEY (key word here) thought it was against their morals or how they raised you if you were under age at the time.
Now, they blame everyone but themselves.
The whole shithouse will eventually go up in flames, as every other empire in history fell and I hope I am long before it does. I already want to get the hell out.
This bitch needs a good lay and a good bitch slap for even buying it for a 14 yr old in the first place.
Personally, I would buy it for my kid (if I had one. Refuse to subject another humna being to this society). The shit I played and id when I was a kid is nothing to the BS they are freaking about, because crap like this has always been out there.
This crap pisses me off. Angers me beyond belief.
If you haven't read 1984 do so. Because this is where things are heading.

well the local news probably mistook Vice City with San Andreas. you know they don't care which game the woman is filing a lawsuit over, especially since both games are made by the same company.
i'm all for protecting impressionable young kids from offensive material, but there are many adults who enjoy offensive material. i just hate that people are trying to ban stuff we enjoy under the guise of doing it "for the kids." all they're trying to do is give themselves purpose in their lives and "make the world a better place" because after they had children out of wedlock, they couldn't go to college and be successful and have REAL purpose in their lives. stupid minivan-driving, L.A. Gear-wearing soccer moms.

that's pretty freaky, but it looks like the guy only plays fighting games. and fighting games are mostly about button combinations. after all, how many of us look at the controller while we're playing? plus, the characters' movements on the screen can be determined by the sounds they make when they take steps when walking or running. they even make sounds when jumping. so it's not that hard to believe. i wouldn't mind seeing him take on more complicated games like RPG's or something.

So like the news to get the story wrong it is GTA:SA Not GTA:VC
NEW YORK (July 27) - A woman upset that she bought the video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas'' for her 14-year-old grandson without knowing it contained hidden, sexually explicit scenes sued the manufacturer Wednesday on behalf of consumers nationwide.
Florence Cohen, 85, of New York, said in the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan that the game's manufacturer, Rockstar Games, and its parent company, New York-based Take Two Interactive Software Inc., engaged in false, misleading and deceptive practices.
She sought unspecified damages on behalf of herself and all consumers nationwide, saying the company should give up its profits from the game for what amounted to false advertising, consumer deception and unfair business practices.
Cohen said in the suit that she bought the game in late 2004 for her grandson when it was rated "M'' for mature, for players 17 and older. According to the suit, she directed that it be taken away from her grandson, which was done.
The game was released in October with an "M'' rating. After a storm of negative publicity about the hidden scenes, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board, an industry group responsible for rating games, changed the rating to "AO'' for adults only.
Laurence D. Paskowitz, the lawyer who filed the lawsuit on behalf of Cohen, said no parent would knowingly buy an adult-only video game for their children.
"They should really make sure this doesn't happen again,'' he said. "The least this company can do is offer refunds.''
Hidden areas in video games that can be unlocked with special codes or modifications are not uncommon.
Take Two Interactive initially said the scenes were not part of the retail version of the game but later admitted they were.
A message left for a company spokesman was not immediately returned. On Tuesday, Take-Two announced that it had been notified by the Federal Trade Commission's Division of Advertising Practices that it was conducting an inquiry into the game's advertising claims.
The company said it planned to cooperate fully with the probe.
"Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive regret that consumers may have been exposed to content that was not intended to be accessible in the playable version of 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas','' it said in a statement.
The company said it had halted production of the game in the controversial form and was working on a version of the game without the hidden sexual content.
"Going forward, the company will refine the process by which it edits games and will enhance the protection of its game code to prevent such future modifications,'' it said.
Earlier this week, the House voted 355-21 for a resolution asking the FTC to investigate the company. Last week, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., asked the FTC to investigate Rockstar, saying the company had "gamed the ratings system'' by concealing sex scenes in the game that can be unlocked by computer programs available on the Internet.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Target Corp., Best Buy Co. and Circuit City Stores Inc. have pulled the game - last year's top-seller among console games - from their shelves following the rating change.

This is fucking retarded and yet it isn't the dumbest suit of the last 10 years. i rank them as:
#1 dumbest mother fucker who needs to be killed by horse penis to the rectum: The chick who buys coffee from McDonalds, takes the lid off and puts it between her legs, speeds off and hits a speed bump then sues when it burns her old twat. She won like 2 mil for this stupidity.
#2 assholes that need to be lined up and dig their own graves: The fucking civil suit against fast food restaurants for making them fat. fuckers want to blame everyone but themselves. i am fat and happen to enjoy fatty foods. This is why i am fat.
this chick seems to be pulling third at the moment and may jump if that cunt wins.

Wait a tick. Hilary Clinton is looking into sexual content in video games? Shouldn't she deal with the sexual content in her own home before dealing with others? What a cunt. Maybe someone will accidently shoot her in the face on live national tv. By accident of course.

the problem, IMO, is that a lot of people still think video games are just for little kids, which is such a HUGE misconception. that's why this arthritic blue-dot with a ashy gash walked into the store and bought this game for her grandson without bothering to read the rating on the cover. that's also why they want to ban violent games altogether (and chances are, the people who want them banned have never even played a video game in their lives because they have deemed video games as "stupid" and "kid's stuff." they like to sit atop their pedestals and look down on people who play video games because of this antiquated mindset. but contrary to their beliefs, i read somewhere that the average video game player is 29. and that's an average, so gamers range in ages younger and (more prudent to my point) older than 29. these people don't realize that video games are becoming a very sophisticated storytelling medium, not just blips on a screen like they had in the '70's and '80's. and more and more of the games nowadays feature stories with adult themes and violence.
hey, you want the stores to card people who want to buy adult-aimed games? fine. i'm 21, i can buy any damn game i want. the stores need to regulate who they sell the games to, and the PARENTS need to realize that not all video games out there now are appropriate for children.

I could not agree any more with you. I didnt know that 29 was an average gaming age, even if it is off by a few years, I am still a little amaized. But on the other hand I often run into gamers in thier 40's and some in the 50's.
And yes, if people want to crack down on kids and the games they get thier hands on then it should rely on the store and the parents. The tobacco company doesnt get blamed when cigarettes are sold to minors, the store gets fined and probally loses thier tobacco liscense (if applicable in your state) and then everyone moves on. If the store makes the mistake again the penalties increase. It is that same pricicple that should be applied here.

These people piss me off to no end.
If you go out of state you have to follow their laws, it's your responsibility to know the laws, if you get busted it's your fault.
How is it Rockstar's fault that shriveled bags can't read the 'M' on the package. They by law put it there, it is her responsibility to see that. And where are the parents at?! Why is the grandmother buying this and the parents not saying anything???

The parents probably said no to buying it and the kid, knowing that his grandma is old and stupid, asked the grandma to buy it for him. Stupid cunt.
