Click here for the cheapest price I've seen for the Memory Stick Pro Duo Gaming version. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820191423)
Games I suggest:
Lumines
Wipeout Pure (there's 3 updates to this game and they're all out now)
Ridge Racer
Twisted Metal Head On (Online play right out of the box and it's like the old PS1 Twisted Metal 2 so it's fun)

1. Froogle.com?
I paid 50 bucks for a 512 card and am more than good with it
2. Good games?
Lumines is like digital crack
Midnight Club has some really long load times but is a great and very beautiful game
You have Hot Shots which is The psp game
Virtua Tennis is coming soon, Lemmings, And others.

I'm thinking about picking up a PSP tomorrow but am currently at a 50/50 with buying it. I've never held, played, or seen one. I love the fact that it's pretty much an all in 1 device and me being the electronic guru it's calling my name. So what do you all think? Do you all recommend it?

That link Kev put up is the cheapest I have ever seen. I got mine on E-Bay for $110. I have Hot Shots and it is a great game. I have NBA street which was good, and MGS Acid was a good game, its a turn based card game but it was still pretty good. I suggest getting the PSP, I use mine everyday wether it be MP3, videos (UMD or movies I ripped on to it), or gaming.

i absolutely love it...the only problem with the machine is that the memory sticks are eally expensive. so if you want to put a lot of songs onto it or rip movies you will need 1gb+....which runs $100-$500 depending on size, other than that i love the device. i am completely addicted to wipeout (playing it now at work) and i love hotshots; for the other games i will have to try them out.

I love the wipeout series since the PS1. I can easily ebay the memory sticks (one that works, I'm not Vos). Get them at least $30 below price. I might put in a FEW songs but other than that it's my myfi that is my "listenning" choice.

Burnout Legends for the PSP is looking amazing right now. Basically it's a racing game but focuses on crashes and destruction. Get Burnout 3 Takedown for the PS2 to see what it's about. http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1817

Grand Theft Auto for the PSP comes out on 9/1/05. A portable GTA game has to be sweet. I just hope all this Rockstar shit doesn't push back the release or make them fuck with the game.

I got mine for free and so can you guys from freepsps.com and psps4free.com if you don't mind doing a little work for it and you're short on cash.
I bought my 1 gig mem stick and now I can play all the isos currently online.
Some good websites are PSPupdates.com and PSP-hacks.com for info.
BTW are we allowed to post torrent sites? I have one that has a bunch of PSP isos.
It's awesome because I got my PSP for free, and the games for free :icon_mrgr

Ridge Racer has really whacky physics, but if you're not looking for the most realistic racer, it's a great choice. Fun drifting :)
Also try World Tour Soccer. Pretty fun with lots of old school/vintage teams to unlock (Real Madrid 1950, Brazil 1970, all Euro clubs, France 1990, etc...)
Good choice on wipeout and hotshots btw, very good games to have.
Get the 1 gig as soon as you can so you can download and play isos.

Its called PSPVideo9. What really blows is movies are really huge. You can get a 90 minute movie down to about 300 megs, but the quality really sucks. 600-700 megs is the norm for a good, almost DVD quality rip. This is horrible when memorysticks are still as expensive as they are. When Sony finally gets their heads out of their collective ass and releases a UMD burner and blank discs (which will probably run about $8 apiece), it will be much easier and cheaper to manage videos. Its a lot easier to get 1 or 2 movies per UMD (1.8 GB), than to keep swapping movies on the memorystick.

I have been buying just some of my favorite movies on UMD and keeping them at work. I only buy them if they are between 8 - 15 bucks. Like SNATCH is coming out in septmeber and I pre-ordred it. I have them on DVD too but if they are cheap I will buy them on UMD too. I get really bored sometimes so throwing one of my favorite movies in is covientent. I use my memory stick for MP3s and I put family guy episodes on it oo.

tru that...i'm sure sony could make a lot more money selling umd blanks and the software to burn it. also, are umds large enough to fit in a cd burner, like those mini-cds that solicitors hand out?

No. First of all, UMD is a "cartridge" disc. It has a sealed plastic carrier around it. You can't open the carrier without breaking it.
http://i.cnn.net/cnn/interactive/tech/0503/gallery.sony.psp/04.UMD-angle.jpg
Second, it is more like a DVD than a CD, as far as disc density. And third, UMD uses a blue laser to pack data more tightly. CD and DVD are red laser. The two are incompatible.

The guy at EBgames told me a bunch of people try to get the disc out of their little cases and end up breaking them.

UMD Movie prices range from 8-24. Hell, you might be lucky and find some used ones at gamestop or ebgames. I think sony would had made a killer by making the psp a UMD player/W/RW. But maybe the technology isn't persent or they wanted to keep prices down. I'm gonna pick up my psp today, a game, a movie, and MAYBE a larger memory stick. I might just buy one off of ebay. I saw a 256mb card for $18. Do you all have cases or any skins for your psps?

$20 is still mother fucking ridiculous for a movie, no matter what it's for. if i can buy the dvd for a 61 in plasma tv for $10-15 then why would i want to buy the same movie for $20 for someone that is only 2 in?

They're still incompatible. A Blu-Ray DVD player (and PS3) WILL play a standard CD/DVD, because the Blu-Ray mechanism contains both a blue and red laser. But a Blu-Ray DVD will not play in a standard DVD player.

Do you have the adapter to put the MS Pro into the standard MS slot on your reader? The MS Pro is half the size of the old MS.
That being said, you format the MS in the PSP, and that creates a directory structure. You explore to the flash drive, and you will see folders for IMAGE, MP3, and SAVEGAME. Just copy your files to the appropriate folders.
Movies, you will need to download PSP Video 9. This will transcode your .avi, .mpg, .divx, and .xvid files into .MP4 video files. You also really should use the USB cable (if you have a digital camera, you can use that cable) for the videos, that way PSPV9 can automate everything. It won't work in a flash reader.

not directly. There's a big ugly adapter that you can get, which has a large memorystick slot attached to a circuit board, which is attached to a 'dummy' memorystick pro via a ribbon cable. IMHO, it's not worth using, because you risk damaging the card ejection mechanism if you knock it the wrong way.
if someone would use me as a refernce in free psp i get a free one...

I use PSP Video 9 (http://www.pspvideo9.com/). Works great and it's free.
And I'm currently playing Ridge Racer and Mercury. Addicted to both games, and waiting for GTA and a decent turn based RPG to come out for it. That and for someone to figure out how to run homebrew apps on the new firmware.

If you bought your PSP in the US, it already HAS 1.5 on it. 1.5 is really crappy with homebrew, and 2.0 is supposed to close any loopholes that 1.5 had. 1.0 was only available on the Japan model, and it's problematic at best to downgrade the US models to 1.0. Newer games are also going to require the 2.0 upgrade to even work. So it's a screwjob either way.

fuck!!!!!!!! i'm an ass i forgot about that being that i upgraded my US PSP with the JAP 2.0 firmware and it works quite nicely.
yes....i have read that it is impossible to downgrade so now i get to wait for the official US 2.X firmware whenever $ONY decides to release it to us "round eyes"
you know that eventually some bored geek will hack it and you'll be able to run roms on ver 2.0+
