Local shock jocks Ron and Fez will take their show to XM Satellite Radio, according to the network. Beginning Sept. 12, they will broadcast weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on XM Channel 202, High Voltage.

"It should come as no surprise that Ron and Fez are making the jump," Eric Logan , XM's executive vice president of programming, said in a statement. "High Voltage is a perfect place for them to do what they do best."

The network plans an official announcement tomorrow.
Ron Bennington and Fez Whatley began broadcasting together in Florida in the mid-'90s before coming to Washington. Their show airs weeknights on WJFK (106.7-FM), which is home to "The Don and Mike Show." WJFK also carries Howard Stern 's syndicated program. Stern made waves last October when he announced plans to move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January 2007 for $500 million, saying the decision was a response to censorship by the Federal Communications Commission. The content of satellite programs is not regulated by the agency.

Details of Ron and Fez's deal with XM were not available, but the duo will appear on the network's "Opie and Anthony" show Aug. 9 for a Q&A.

"It was a mutual decision. We appreciate their contributions to WJFK and we wish them well," said Michael Hughes , senior vice president and general manager of WJFK.

For those of you who never heard R&F, they're not O&A, not by any stretch, but they're funny as shit in their own way. I always enjoyed checking their show out when they were on WNEW, they made me chuckle. The best of them, though, was when they would drop in on O&A, or vice versa. Then the quartet would feed off each other, and lift the whole game to a whole nother level. Blows the mind when they are all together, doing their thing, riffing off each other. The two shows perfectly complement each other.

While I'm happy that Ron and Fez are coming to Xm I really have to side with BAM on this one. When I heard Opie say it I immediately got this uncomfortable feeling. So if that's the case (afternoon drive on both coasts) then what's the schedule gonna be:

7-11am EST (4-8am PST) O&A
11-2pm EST (8-11am PST) R&F
2-3pm EST (11am-12pm PST) Best Of
3-7pm EST (12-4pm PST) O&A
7-11pm EST (4-8pm PST) O&A

This just doesn't make any sense, business or otherwise. O&A should take afternoon drive on the East and then Ron & Fez take afternoon drive on the west that way R&F retain their evening fan base that they built over the past two + years.

The network plans an official announcement tomorrow (umm, that would be today).

Ron Bennington and Fez Whatley began broadcasting together in Florida in the mid-'90s before coming to Washington. Their show airs weeknights on WJFK (106.7-FM), which is home to "The Don and Mike Show." WJFK also carries Howard Stern 's syndicated program. Stern made waves last October when he announced plans to move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January 2007 for $500 million, saying the decision was a response to censorship by the Federal Communications Commission. The content of satellite programs is not regulated by the agency.

Details of Ron and Fez's deal with XM were not available, but the duo will appear on the network's "Opie and Anthony" show Aug. 9 for a Q&A.

"It was a mutual decision. We appreciate their contributions to WJFK and we wish them well," said Michael Hughes , senior vice president and general manager of WJFK.
