April 4, 2002 -- The mothers of 10 children hurt when an inflatable kiddie trampoline, ominously named the Titanic, suddenly deflated are suing a Queens carnival and the city for a whopping $100 million.
Blaming the collapse on "negligence," the families' lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, said, "There is an obligation to have safe amusement parks where parents can take their children without risk of injury."
The ship-shaped trampoline toppled over Tuesday night at the Larry Carr Exposition in South Ozone Park's Baisley Pond Park.
"It almost suffocated the children. They were frantic and crying," said Eunice Owie, a Queens mother of two children, ages 9 and 12.
