Hey Hey Hey, its not even out yet, plus it's an Alienware! Your paying for quality and reliability (When were Apple/Macintosh products ever good). This will SO complement my Area 51m 7700 when I get it. I'm shocked I didn't see this on the Alienware site where I spend a ton of time drooling.

I never said that Apple isn't as big a pile of shit as the Alienware. Infact they're quite similar in their business plans... Customer pays $X for somthing and you give the $X/3 worth in product, but smile when doing it so they don't know you're fucking them with a large studded dildo.

holy shit they have a 512mb for 129.00! I bet you will be able to upgade the built in memory to 2 gig for a mere 599.00 once it hits the Alienware site.

I don't get the whole alienware thing. If your so into computer gaming and blowing a ton of money, why wouldn't you just build it yourself. Its not like theyre geared towards the average consumer.

But Greg....1gig? Just admit you didn't notice that little piece of information. That doesn't even COMPARE to the iPod.

First of all I have a second generation 20GB ipod and its perfect. Ok so once i connected it to another computer and it got erased but i learned from that. Apple hardware works great if you have apple computers. All i own are macs cause all seven of my PC's over the years have died on me You just have to be 10% smarter than the ipod itself to make it work. I admit I spent like $300-400 on it but actually now that i think about it it was a gift so nevermind. Anyway i would rather have 5000 songs at my fingertips.

Yeah 1 gig is small, i know. It costs about the same as the iPod shuffle which is 1gig I think.

1 gig memory is real good if you dont want to deal with a hard drive....but I've never had a problem with my IRiver 20 gig player, and even if I had a choice now, I'd rather gspend the extra money for a hard drive anyways. Alienware.....aaacchhh ptueee!

alienware used to be good when they made custom desktops. They went to mass market now all your buying is an over priced non custom brand name. Its no more than a dell with a funky case. There are much better options for mp3 players if you dont like mac. 1GIG for that much money, you gotta be kidding.

but seriously folks, i've never had a problem with my iPod and i cant see myself using a diffrent mp3 player.

The 1GB doesn't bother me. That will still hold over 300 songs. I don't think I have that many MP3s worth listening to. Why do I need 20,000 songs. As long as It has good software for file transfers I might take a look at this. I don't want to be a part of that hippie Ipod fad. This thing is 100X better looking than the Ipod. Only thing I don't like is that it says it is rechargable, but it also says * Uses 1 AAA battery(not included) WTF

Personally, I would rather spend a little more money for an I-Pod that can hold more songs. 1 Gig is like nothing. I have had my I-Pod since like December. And I love it. I have never had a problem and I don't use an Apple computer with it. I never thought of getting anything else.

I see you point and I'm not saying your wrong but personally I would just rather have a few hundred songs that I really like than have to scroll through thousands of them to find what I want.

I have completly went against my other 2 posts and bought a 20GB Ipod. I was looking for a smaller one but Amazon had the 20GB Ipod for $230, only 50 bucks more than the 5GB generic I was looking at. Is $230 a good deal? The Ipod store had it listed for $299.

CrazyMrPoopSex

Nevermind, The new Ipods have a color display. mine doesn't. Whoopdy doo
Plus my alpine receiver can access and control the Ipod. Now I can put all my CD's on the Ipod Run the wires from behind the unit to the glove box. Ipods out of site and I can listen to all my CD's in my car w/o having to change them. KICK ASS!

The ipod shuffle is $99. While I agree that iPods, and all mp3 players are overpriced, I love my 20gig 4th gen iPod. Sure it was $300 but I had a $100 gift card to best buy so it was really only 200 for me. Well worth it at that price.

I like the Zen Micro 6GB Model. Zen Micro now supports Mass Storage Device Technology. I Think you have to partition a piece of the HDD for that purpose but even if you put aside 1 gig that leaves you 5 gigs for tunes.

BTW. that means you can plug it into any PC with Win2000 or XP and have it recognized as a HDD without any drivers. Use it to move stuff around like Pics Docs Etc. You're carrying it anyway.

alienware is overpriced garbage

It's marketed towards the geeks in high school who get just a bit too inton the games they play. They are the fuckers who have to make/buy costumes of their favorite game characters, etc. So, a boring old computer without a bunch of flashing lights and shit? No way! I want my case to blink! I bet my homemade gaming computer could CRUSH anything Alienware has ever made, at about 1/3 the cost.

Love my new powerbook. Finally have a computer that I can leave up for a month without any problems and play around with Unix.

anyways, since I got xm I dont use my ipod for anything besides running and as stupid as I thought the things were when they first came out, I think I may get an iPod shuffle for that. The only thing that makes iPods so great is their interface. Its just so much easier to get to what you want than any other mp3 player. Sure they are a little expensive, but the way I see it, its like hookers. sure you can get one for $20, but wouldnt you rather pay $200 and be sure youre getting a woman?

IPODs are a pain in my ass to upload songs on to it. I still have no idea how to get songs into it. Maybe its me. I'm looking for an EASY to use mp3 player where you can pretty much drag and drop the mp3s into it...no complicated software....If you get this and its simple to use, let me know!

Mister Falcon
09-14-2005, 08:31 PM
If you want a simple mp3 player that does wma w/ napster to go compatiblity go with a Zen micro or neenon includes a simple drag and drop interface explorer or a full feature library which is easier to navigate then itunes . It's got fm and voice record up to ten hours and you can use a external hardrive up to 4 gb of it 5gb and it's removable battery that makes it less pain ass to repair. Plus neeon has line in for oand a

Way to beat the sirius portable if you don't have a myfi yet: xm online, the window movie maker's narrate function and a zen for it's wma comp. instead spending on a recording app. I know their a cracked freeware recorder some were but I'm to lazy or busy to find it.

The iPod nano looks like it might be the next big thing.... about 80% smaller than a standard iPod, full featured controls & display like the full sized iPod, none of that shitty shuffle shit.

Mister Falcon
09-14-2005, 08:43 PM
yea it nice but it size vs. gb for the price. I thinks it a flash though so it would pefect for active people. might be great for jogging instead of hard drive based dap

Mongrel Class
09-14-2005, 10:18 PM
I can't wait till they make 20gb flash players, its still a while off but that will be sweet. Damn harddrives scratch and damage too easily. I lost an ipod after a year and replaced it with a creative player.

I also got an ipod shuffle 512 to exercise with, that wouldnt break from dropping/moving. I honestly thought the shuffle was the dumbest idea ever until i tried it out. You make a playlist of about 150 songs, and you drop em in order of artist/album and you can just browse through them in order and find what you want. With such a small library on there you dont need a screen.

Its also great to load up recorded radio shows on there too.

I think that ipod nano is going to be huge.
