XM411 is proud to present the 4th XM Boot Camp - A day-by-day journey across the XM dial.
The premise of the Boot Camp is to relieve you of "favorite channel rut" and expand your horizons! We're not here to take you away from your favorite channels. Our goal is to simply have you sample other channels you may otherwise never try. There really are a lot of great XM channels you haven't discovered yet! Smile
During BC4, the concept of the "day-by-day journey across the XM dial" not only lives on but takes on a new dimension. This time, we are going to take a more leisurely pace than in past trips; we'll cover the channels until well into Spring 2006! (There will be a break over the holidays.)
Here's what's new:
We're going to focus on 3 channels per week - and you are encouraged to explore the designated channels all week long. A weekly "theme" will be chosen around the three featured channels. Sometimes, the theme for the week will be obvious, sometimes more obscure, and sometimes completely random! We're going to mix things up and have fun. The Online exclusive channels are fair game. We will not cover T&W or Play-By-Play Channels. Also, depending on timing, direct rebroadcasts of cable news channels will not be included.
There was a mention of a "MyFi Boot Camp" ... Go nuts! Set your MyFi and record shows that you may otherwise miss. The whole week is fair game for the three channels. I'll provide links to the weekly schedule for each channel. Pick and choose what you want to listen to as it meets your schedule. If you hear a good show on one of the channels help us out and point out when the show will be replayed! If the past is any indication, the interaction with the XM DJs will be great!!! I know they appreciate what we're doing here. You'll see!
I should mention that those who chose to focus on a specific channel on a specific day are still welcomed to do so. Each channel will be assigned a "spotlight day" during the week. These days will primarily be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday unless a special event justifies a change.
The entire schedule will not be revealed to you at this time. This allows for much greater flexibility for us to cover the best of XM "as it happens."
I'm thinking that a separate email distribution list may need to be created to get the message out as I understand it may not always be possible to reach XM411 given your particular schedule… if there’s a demand we’ll work on a distribution list. You still are encouraged to visit the site and share your observations…Good, bad, or indifferent.
A typical "Boot Camp Week" is going to run from Monday-Sunday. The three channels will be revealed the weekend before and the "theme" for the following week will be revealed at that time as well - and then you can spend all week wagering on what the next three channels may be! Smile
Okay, the bottom line: This Boot Camp is going to be less about the regimented "process" more about flexibility and providing the maximum opportunity for you to get the most out of the experience. In addition, I'm counting on those who have gone through the journey before to lend their knowledge. Smile
This is your journey. I ask that you give this new format a fair chance; let's see where it takes us. I'm happy to address any questions or concerns.
As past participants will tell you, this exercise takes a lot of commitment and will often take you out of your comfort zone. But you'll learn a lot about yourself and you'll make some great friends along the way. I promise you. I sincerely hope you will join us!
