I put this here because O&A and Jimmy do alot of discussion about the Muslims and the war on terror. I think this is very pertinent.
I finally worked up the courage to watch this show on the National Geographic channel. Being a firefighter at the time of the attacks, I took that day especially hard, as all my brothers in blue across the country did. I had been avoiding this show since it came on about 2 weeks ago. Anyway, I watched the whole thing, and I have to say nothing I have ever seen on TV disturbed me so much. I got just as upset and angry as I did on 9/11/01.
The way that the terrorists went about planning and carrying out the attacks is chilling. They were as calm and collected as anybody else, even though they knew they would be killing thousands of Americans the next day. One of the towel heads even ordered a porn movie (not allowed by Islam) the night before the attacks. These were brutal, inhuman animals who had zero regard for any human life whatsoever.
The footage of the planes flying into the buildings and the subsequent collapse of the towers brought me to tears again. It still hurts to this day to see my beloved country attacked for no reason at all. One of the hardest things to see and hear was the video of the hundreds of emergency locators that firefighters wear beeping underneath all the rubble on September 12th. I know that sound, every firefighter knows that sound, and you don't want to hear one of those going off, let alone hundreds, knowing that you can do nothing about it. There was alot of footage that I have never seen, and it is truly horrifying.
I think EVERY AMERICAN should watch this. I think most Americans have forgotten what REALLY happened that day. It has been cleaned up, we have moved on, and too many people now see it as a day that we put flags out, and not the darkest day in American history. We, as a country, have an amazing ability to move on, but we also have an annoying habit of forgetting. This is something that we should NEVER forget, and should be our motivation for killing every last Muslim terrorist on the face of the earth. There will never be peace until every single one of these savages is dead.
They end the show with a quote, and I will end this post with the same quote. While head savage Osama Bin Laden is hiding like a coward from the U.S. bombs that can be heard exploding in the background as they pelt the mountain range, Bin Laden says this to a journalist that is with him:
"We love death. The U.S. loves life. That is the big difference between us."

Dude, I understand you are upset about it all, a lot of us still are. But racism is never acceptable. Look, I'm whiter than Casper, but remember, not all Muslims are terrorists, and no matter what anyone tells you, not all terrorists are muslim. If a black guy were to kick me in the balls, I would not go around calling all black people *******. I would just call that particular black person an asshole. So no matter what a particular type of person does to you, do not resort to racism. Now the rest of you have fun mocking me, calling me a pussy or whatever, I don't care. But racism is never acceptable.
Never? I think that statement is a little extreme. There is a time and place for everything, and 9-11 is a good time and place to use the term "towel head". I also wouldn't blame Muslims for Anti-Christian slurs during the crusades. Unfortunately many of their 3rd world countries view that period of history as "last week". Fuck 'em if they can't take a well earned barb.

There are not too many irish catholic or southern baptists terrorists out to kill americnas right now. Just the muslim terrorists.
Should they die? yes...horribly.

Why don't we commit terrorist acts against them? Accidentally crash a camel into their biggest tent? Slice the heads off women and children. Anyone see that episode of 24, when Jack Bauer knew the only thing that would get the terrorist to talk was to kill his family? It worked, even though he didnt actually do it. Maybe we should. There are three things this country is good at: sports, intellectualism, and killing people. Lets pay MS-13 gangmenbers to attack them, rather than work with them. Lets drop a few nukes...its all desert anyway. Just kidding on that one. Sorta.

C&S you are correct sir!
Gally Dooley, ever heard that assinine saying "if it walks like a duck...."
IMO (and many others) ALL Muslims are terrorists, its just that all have not acted on it yet.....
Every single one of those pieces of shit HATE America and Americans, its just a matter of time until they act on their hatred and take out innocent citizens because of their beliefs. Anyone who blindly follows a religion that condones violence against another human being is a terrorist, this includes ALL Muslims.
Call them towel heads, camel jockeys, sand ******* etc. there is not a single one on this planet that can be trusted, after the towers came down and they showed those piles of shit celebrating in the middle east should have been enough proof that they are all human waste. To even consider that one of these animals is equivalent to a human being is laughable.
Muslims are terrorists, terrorists are Muslim no two ways about it, the cock suckers that carried out the attack on 9/11 were Muslim terrorists and until we nuke all Muslim/terrorist loving and supporting countries on this planet there will always be the threat of this happening again.
Anyone who tries to justify what has happened by saying that all Muslims are not like this is a fool.
I hope this makes some sort of sense as I too just watched that show and am extremely pissed off (and pretty buzzed)
ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORIST period.
It will never change unless Bush grows a pair of balls and does what needs to be done, NUKE them and round up every one of them in my country (just like the Japs during WWII) and weed out the shit (99.9% of all walking the earth right now)

I was working late the day the second episode aired... My girlfriend was watchng it, dispite swearing that she wouldn't. I think they also replayed the first one.
Anyway, she made it halfway through the show before she broke down. She called me upset and I rushed home to find her in the bath tub with her clothes on??!?! She's nomally pretty stable...but, that show really bothered her.
I cant tell you how much this whole situation bothers me...look at gas prices! WTF! I also work right next to a MTA station. Every 15 minutes there's a looped recording that says, "all bags are subject to random searches by the police". Its bullshit!

Dude.. I tried to search for your thread, cuz I knew it was out there. I put in EVERY word from the title of my thread, both separately and all together, and it kept coming up with nothing. Maybe a mod can merge the 2. No disrespect, I tried.
Also, there has been some discussion about my use of the word "towel head". First off, the fact that in this day and age people can still get outrageously offended by words is just laughable. They are words. That's it. Anyway, would you rather I called them "worthless piles of human shit that don't deserve to breathe another breath on this earth"? Which is worse, that... or "towel head". Regardless of what you call them, the people that attacked us on 9/11 were Muslims, and they were terrorists. They don't deserve any sort of respect whatsoever, so I feel like we can call them whatever the hell we want to.
My original point for the post was to recommend that everybody watch the show. I realize that this will open discussions about Muslims and terrorism, which needs to be done, but I don't want the original intent of the post to be lost. Watch the show, remember the anger, fear, grief, pain, and everything else that you felt that day, and maybe we can begin the steps in this country to becoming truly proactive when it comes to our borders, our security, and our missions in Iraq and beyond.

In the early part of 1991 200,000 american troops had destroyed and demolished an army of a million troops. These 200,000 american troops were ready, willing, able and motivated to finish what the commander in chief had started.
I am here now so my brother won't have to be here in 10 years
We could see Bagdad, it was well within our grasp. It was ours for the taking, and we had wanted to not just take it, but smash it, turn it to dust and let it scatter in the winds of the desert sands never to be seen again. We had wanted to end it before it really began.
You know what happened? Nothing. With 200,000 American troops right on the door step of what they (the polititions) called our enemy we were told it was over. The war had ended.
We (the American Troops) stood there and asked ourselves "Why? Lets finish this". But our grand old government said it had come to an end, while us troops said "No, it hasn't". We wanted to go in and finish the job right. But those Politicians(however that word is spelt, like I care about them anyway) said "No, it over. Time to come home". And with a promise of coming back home we still felt the job was incomplete.
In the Gulf War of 1991 less then 300 American lives were lost by the time American were pulled out.
I am here now so my brother won't have to be here in 10 years
The American government dropped the ball. If we would have done what they sent us there to do in the first place then (IMO) we would not be at war today, we would not have lost 2 towers and countless Civilian lives. We would not be loosing live today. We were sent to stop a tyrant, and we left with that tyrant sill in power.
The US government failed in 1991 and is failing today.
We are doomed as a nation
The death tool would not be as high as it is if Sr. would have let us do what he sent us to do. And now Jr. send us back again. (I have friends that were there in '91 that are going back again for something that should have been taken care of back then.)
When I look out my window (which at one time overlooked the towers) I wish we had finished the job Sr. had set for us. So many lives, fireman, policemen and over 3000 civilians, were lost.
Not to make lite of the fireman and policemen that were lost that day, but over 3000 civilians were lost. Fireman and Policeman are at risk all the time. It's part of the job. But it's not part of a file clerks job, or a waiter/waitress or even the parking attendants job description. A Fireman or Police man faces that risk all the time. But a mailroom attendant should not.
The 9/11 attack killed more civilians then civil service workers. It was something that no, and I mean NO CIVILIAN, should ever have to face or see. The whole 9/11 thing should not have happened.
For those who lost someone in that attack, I am sorry. It's not something that should happen to anyone, and not during what is called peace time.
In a nutshell, we let it happen.
May the souls of all those lost Rest in Peace. And may it never happen again.
**mod edit - I just noticed this is in O&A General Discussion when it should be in Off Topic (maybe). Gonna move it there (to off topic), but leave a redirect in O&A General Discussion cause I just don't feel like writing PMs explaining why it was moved after writing my rambles.**

The first Towers attack took place after the First Gulf War. That attack was a result of the First Gulf War (IMO). We showed weakness by not finishing what we started.
(hypithetical here) If we had taken iraq back then a military base would have been set up over there to ensure that a repeat of the Kuwait invasion would not happen again. Now regardless of how those folks felt about us the main concern for them would be America in their Backyard. But we pulled out, left no military presance after the withdrawl, at least not much of a presance to make a differance. So They (terrorist) decided to take it to our Backyard. And they kept it in our Backyard.
We (US government) now think we are in thier backyard and doing damage, but what we (US government) has not seen yet is our backyard neighbors have move out. So now we are just fighting who ever moved in.
By the way, dose anyone remember that this war started in afganistan and somehow wound up in iraq?
Another problem with our government is how they redirect things and no one seems to notice, care or say anything about it.

Sorry sir, but I must dispute your claim. Bin Laden has publicly stated that his number 1 motivation for the attacks on 9/11 was the fact that he hated the U.S. military presence in the Middle East, and he wanted all U.S. troops out of there. He figured an attack like that would send a clear message. Watch the show, they go over this. Setting up a base in Iraq would have angered him even more.
As far as finishing the job in 1991, I go back and forth on this. We weren't there to overthrow Saddam. We were there to force him out of Kuwait. Should we have killed him? Maybe. It is a fact that they tried to with cruise missiles. However, Bush Sr. made it very clear that he was not there to overthrow the Iraqi government. Killing Saddam then may have had unforseen consequences down the road, and nobody can say for sure what would have happened. This is they way it played out, so this is what we have to deal with. Wishing for this or that won't change anything.

I certainly agree with this. You cannot fight a war and be worried about offending people. We have the resources to swarm that country and kill every last insurgent, but for some damn reason Bush won't. Until he does, this thing will just drag on.

When I come home I get that greating from my kids (Daddys Home). Before I finished reading your post .... not pulling a kelly but, I felt it before I read it.
This is my last comment in this thread (I hate typing about it, just to much for me to type out concerning this whole issue) but we should have Nuked them. I mean it. A tactical Nuke could have taken out bagdad alone and sent a message to the Sand-golfers that we got nukes and will use them. (Bush Sr. should have let isreal nuke iraq back in '91. that could have ended things to).

Wow, I really got people talking didn't I? You all hate my bleeding heart liberal additude don't you? HA!!! I just felt like starting shit. I say the towelheads can rot in the deepest pit of firey hell. I know no towel heads in reality, nor any muslims either.
And YES, Senior should have finished the job back in 1991. And to answer your question FedExEd, the reason this war moved from Afghanistan to Iraq, was because Senior was whispering in Junior's ear and telling him this would be the perfect time to finish what he, Senior, had started.
And as far as how we should end the war on terrorism, nuke the fuckers, and turn Irag and Afghanistan into parking lots for Iran and Pakistan respectively
NUKE THE FUCKING TOWEL HEADS!!!!

Back in '91 my motivation was to get out of kuwait alive. When it was called off by the commander in chief my motivation (and I speak for many who fought over there back then) was to go in and take the man out at any cost. We (the troops over there) knew it was not over till he was taken out. Now (13 years later) he is taken out, but it was to late.
As far as finishing the job in 1991, I go back and forth on this. We weren't there to overthrow Saddam. We were there to force him out of Kuwait.
That's not what they told us when they shipped us over there. We were told it was to Take Out Saddam.
Should we have killed him? Maybe. It is a fact that they tried to with cruise missiles. That was a farce. Just for show. We could have taken him out, we should have. But did not. "It's better to have an evil you know then an evil you don't know"
However, Bush Sr. made it very clear that he was not there to overthrow the Iraqi government.
That's not what we were told.
Killing Saddam then may have had unforseen consequences down the road, and nobody can say for sure what would have happened.
You mean kinda like now?
This is they way it played out, so this is what we have to deal with. Wishing for this or that won't change anything.
Can't wish, only speculate, as I am doing (IMO).
Watch the show, they go over this.
Don't need to whatch the show, I lived most of it, from the first gulf war to the first tower attack to the second tower attack right up to this war. I have been an eye witness to the actions that took place and are taking place. Seen dead iraqis half buried in the desert sands, seen the soot on the 99 floor after the first attempt at bringing down the towers, seen and smelled the aftermath after the towers finally did fall, seen the effects of those actions, and seen what the government is doing.
And I say, as one who has been there through it all, it could have been avoided. again IMO as a Marine, a New Yorker and an American.
And as an American who served to protect your 1st amendment right I tell you to keep speaking, tell your side, speak your mind.
(wasn't I supposed to leave this topic? Go figure.)

That reason is that people like Bin Laden hate every single thing that America represents and stands for, and he views the freedoms we have as mortal sins.
Don't you think that it's quite hypocritical of Bin Laden and other Muslims to view our freedoms as sins while their main goal is to die for their religion in order to get the 72 virgins they are promised in the afterlife.
Anyway, I watched the show tonight just by luck while I was flipping through the channels and I was glued to my seat for those two hours. I remembered that morning as I was watching TV with my 8 month old son sitting next to me as the phone rang. I picked it up and my wife said "Are you watching TV?" I said "Of course"....it was HBO or something else on cable. She told me to turn on the news and my jaw dropped open as I watched the smoke coming from the first tower. I spent the rest of that day and the following weeks glued to the news watching every development from there on.
Living about 45 minutes from NYC I remember what it was like with no planes or air traffic in the area and how each night was accompanied by that uncomfortable silence, the silence that remineded me how things we're different now. I remember driving to work one night and actually seeing a fighter jet pass above.
I was never one for being up on world events or news outside of my hometown. Call me dumb, uninformed, ignorant, but everything changed after that day. I made it a point to be better informed about what was going on in the world as well as Washington, all because of that one day.
Watching the show tonight, like others here, brought back all of the feelings I went through on that day. Now while I'm not a firefighter, policeman, EMS Tech etc, I was reminded of the sacrifice they made that day and I respect each and every one of them for what they do on a daily basis.
Now onto the Muslim/Islam/Terrorist classifications. The perception of Muslims by American citizens can be attributed directly to Bin Laden himself. If Bin Laden hadn't linked the acts of terror and justified them by using his religion then maybe we'd have a different view of the Islamic religion as a whole. BUT, the Muslims who speak about how Islam is not a terror driven religion fail to blame the person who is responsilbe for that direct association, Bin Laden himself. And the subsequent acts of terror have done nothing to change our views.

Getting Saddam in 91 wouldnt have made a difference whatsoever. Once Russia left Afghanistan, Osama needed someone to go after. Once we set up shop just a few miles from Mecca, he got his hard on and we were next up. Even prior to that the muslims extremists despised America because we represent all that they find evil. Freedom, open sexuality etc. Osama just put gas on that fire.
The problem is, the remaining non extremist muslims are too afraid to do shit about him. If they would get off their asses and do something, maybe they wouldnt have GI's opening up on cars with 50 cals.
This is going to be a long war with many fronts and we will be hit again at home. Maybe not on a 9/11 type scale but it will happen. We are trying to fight a conventional war with unconventional enemies.
To be honest, I see nukes getting involved at some point in the next 10 to 20 years. Either theirs or ours, it will happen.
If and when that happens, I think you'll see America say fuck you to the world and end the middle east in a blinding flash. There is no alternative. We cant pull out all our troops and say, ok, we are done, lets be friends. THey dont care about that, they want us dead, no matter what we do.

I saw this last night, and I must say, out of the dozens of 9/11 documentaries I've seen this is probably the best. Also the most emotional since it humanizes the savages unlike any other programs have done.
For someone who wasn't able to be glued to a television set on that day, this really was an exceptional substitute, yet obviously depressing.

The show is on the National Geographic channel, and it's title is the title of this post.
By the way, I am not arguing with you at all about what you experienced in the first Gulf War. I am sure that the commanders said a ton of things that weren't true. They told the American public one thing, and they told you guys something else. My view is that they thought the war would take much longer than it actually did, and they would have more time to plot an attack on Saddam. I think when it ended so quickly, they were forced to rethink the ideas of taking Saddam out, because it would have looked suspicious to the rest of the world that we kicked their ass out of Kuwait, and we didn't stop until we killed Saddam. If he had been killed during the battle for Kuwait, then so be it. I dunno, maybe that's insane, but I have always believed that they did want to get him, you guys were just too effecient and didn't leave enough time for it to be accomplished.

I totally agree. If there is another attack that even comes close to the death toll of 9/11, or if they somehow detonate a nuke in this country, or even a "dirty bomb" we will be left with no choice. The only reason they haven't been used yet is because of the political implications that come with using a nuke. However, if the scenario above happens, whoever is the President will be forced to abandon the political correctness and, as you said, say "fuck you" to the world and turn that whole area into glass.

Black/ White/Muslim Catholic/ Buddist/ Chinese/ Whatever If you commit a crime you should be punished.
take the religeouse BS and race card out of it all.
Commit a crime against civilization. = punishment. From the majority of regular hard working people.
Problem is laws created to terminate the losers of society have been twisted into lawsuites. News agencys would rather report BS antiwar demonstrators if theres 20 in a street they will get more press than any good America is doing for people in need. So for the truly stupid like the french have no mind to know anything beyond what the media... who are selling you deoderant....tells them.

I didn't get to mention it before, but I was the same way about it as you. I Tivo'd that special in case I finally had the balls someday to watch it. Hell, I cried like a little girl watching HBO's "Nine Innings from Ground Zero". So I figured a 4 hour special on Natl Geo would have been too over the top for me. About 5 minutes after I read your posting, I finally sat and watched it.
