I figured this is the place to post this.
Anyway, Im wanting a surround sound system. I dont need a DVD player or anything, just speakers and a subwoofer, and whatever you need to hook it all up (I know nothing about surround sound setups). I just want something cheap I can to listen to XM through and watch my tv. Nothing fancy just a cheap 4 or 5 speaker setup for my bedroom. Any suggestions?

If this is just for a small room, you may just want to buy a small shelf system. For under $300, they come with five speakers (right, left, center, and two rear), and sometimes even a small subwoofer, for the bass.

The sound isn't fantastic, but they are very easy to set up, and hook up to your TV/DVD.

Check out crutchfield.com and cnet.com. The cheapest Polk set you can find sounds great. Plus both sites will have alot of info on how you can intergrate with your xm gear. Also, how much are you looking to spend?

I have been looking at the XBox surround system. It is listed at 500 bucks but i think walmart.com has it for 400 bucks. The speakers are built on Mirage technology that is rated very good and for about a third the price of the mirage. The subwoofer included comes with a built in processor and amp to run all 5 speakers. The downside is that the XBox logo os stamped all over them. Great deal though.

5.1 Surround system (http://stage.spherexinc.com/products_xbox51.aspx)

This is a low price range for any system with one more downside. No big selection of inputs but you do have 3 digital inputs and 1 analog to hook up a dvd, game console, and a tuner of a sort.

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with a surround-sound designed shelf system. However, I have found that if you have even a medium-sized room, they do lack power and sound quality.

Infinity and Polk have fantastic speaker sets, but you would need to buy a decent surround receiver, which you can get for about $250-$300.

Absolutely. I have been buying stuff from Crutchfield for about 3 years now, and they have fantastic reviews and methods for comparison of different products. They have great service, great prices, and usually I have my stuff here within 2 days of ordering. I have nothing bad to say about them at all, and I have spent over $10,000 dollars there (I am a severe audiophile - only the BEST will do; it sucks).
