OK, finally got my tongue pierced. it didn't hurt anywhere near as bad as i thought it would. actually, after half a bottle of Jack, and like 6 shots of Jaggermiester (sp?) i didn't feel much of anyhting. but i figured at that point, WHO CARES! i'm drunk and now seems as good a time as any! so i did it. i'm interested in finding out how many other of my fellow wackbaggers have had this done, or are considering it. let me know!

seriously though. Getting a dorsoventral tongue piercing should only be reserved for chicks. Now if you got a dorsolateral piercing, at the tip of your tongue, then that's all about eating box. But that piercing is fucking crazy, and most piercers would never attempt it.

Aside from being good for your partner (male or female), they suck. They give you speech impediments, but only for the first few days/weeks. The really big problem is that they cause serious wear on the enamel and gumline on the inside of your mouth. I got one when I was 18 and had it for about 7-8 years. It wore down my gumline bad. Just about every person I know who has/had one for more than a year or two complains about the problems they caused also. One of my friends had to spend roughly $3500 to have his gumline rebuilt. :icon_eek:

I've had one for about 10 years. And, while I never particularly liked the feeling of my ex-wife's on me, (something about not liking metal near my dick) I've received 100% positive reviews on mine.

And I think the location of the piercing goes a long way in how it affects your speech/mouth. Mine's far enough back where it doesn't rest on any enamel or the immediate gumline. And if i bite, or otherwise irritate my tongue, I can take it out for over a month at a time.

I have come to find that I seem to be the exception rather than the rule. I guess it has a lot to do with how well the piercing's done.

Amen to that. Unfortunately, no ones every really done any kind of study to find out the truth of it. Even if alot of the problems do depend on the area of the peircing, it's still not that much of a difference. Education on going to a reputable peircer weighs alot heavier on cleanliness of the equipment/shop rather than the actual quality of the peircer. Fact is, it's mostly younger kids that aren't going to pay attention to things like that.

I have my tonge pierced, have since 1998. No speech impediments, no infection, no chipped teeth (altough I have bitten it a few times when drunk, you learn real fast). If you eat box, the ladies love it. My girlfriend said it makes a difference.
