So I've been trying to set up my home theater, got everything in place now except for my screen. I am currently projecting my video onto a white sheet. Needless to say, that's rather ghetto. I know how I'm going to build my screen, but I need input on the color that I should paint it. Some sites I've read say light gray for the better contrast levels on black, some others say bright white for maximum reflectivity. Any suggestions?

BTW, having a 8'x5' screen in my livingroom RULES! I love it!

another expensive solution http://www.goosystems.com

you should tailor your color to the amount of ambient light you anticipate in your theatre.

yeah, I've seen goo systems, but I did a little looking at blackout cloth, and it seems that's ideally colored as-is for a theater screen.

Behr makes a fair screen paint (it's called Silverscreen)...I use the goo system one al;ong with the Behr and it works great every time. Just use the goo as the top coat; I use two coats of the Behr stuff and one of the Goo systems. Just make sure you use a sprayer or smooth roller so that everything is coated evenly. Nothing worse than having a smear and seeing everytime you watch a movie...

Yeah, I've read that even a tiny blemish stands out horribly when you're watching a movie with bright colors in it.

The Da-Lite company makes superb moderately priced screens for schools, etc, and have really branched out into home theatre. I have used their screens in home theatre installs for my friends.

yea buy a nice ground glass screen, you can some times pick one up at a fleamarket and just make a frame for it, problem is they are hard to find with out stains or mold.
