So last night, I went to the beach and my friend and I took a six pack of Twisted Tea. Let me tell you, DO NOT try it. It isn't worth it, it's nasty. We got the Raspberry flavor and it's horrendous. The alcohol content is minimal, so if you want to get buzzed on it, you'd need more than a six pack probably. It tastes like Raspberry Snapple with a drop of alcohol mixed in, and it has a watered down aftertaste.
Anyways, the reason for posting this and starting this thread is because I thought it would be cool if people could give their reviews on food, drinks, etc, or even submit recipes or to make drinks. Also I will be trying to post a drink of the day each day.
The other reason is because people can warn others of why some drinks are just nasty, like Twisted Tea.

At least in NY, we've had some crazy weather this week, 90 degress in April, just didn't make any sense (predicting snow in september, ;) ), anyways, I've officially started bbq season, so if anyone's got any good bbq recipes, share them.
But my favorite bbq sauce, definitely jack daniels bbq sauce.
Simple recipe (too lazy to get off my ass and dig out my bbq recipes)
Marinated Dogs
Take a package of hot dogs and cut slits into them.
Place hot dogs into ziploc bag
Take as much beer (your choice, I prefer Coors or Sam Addams for this) as you want and pour it over the hot dogs. Shake the bag up, let it sit for a couple of hours and then grill.
Drink of the Day :cdude:
Nuthugger
1 oz Bacardi 151 proof rum
1 oz Vodka
3 oz lime juice
Beer
Pour in Bacardi and Vodka. Follow up with lime juice. Top the rest of the glass with beer.

In the spirit of BBQ season, I will post my favorite recipe for Buffalo wings.
Buffalo Chicken Wings
1 Tbls minced garlic
2 Tbls chopped fresh thyme
1 Cup Lemon juice
2/3 cup Olive Oil
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 Tbls chili powder. I use anchos from New Mexico.
1/2 cup Frank's Hot Sauce. try for this brand. Tabasco doesn't
work, too much vinegar.
20 Chicken Wings, about 3LBS total weight.
The day before, combine garlic, thyme, lemon juice and olive oil in a bowl. Disjoint the wings, discarding the tips(or save for stock). Rinse, drain, and pat dry with paper towels. Add the wings to the marinade, cover and refrigerate overnite.
Pre-heat grill or broiler, but they're much better on the grill. Heat the butter, and chili powder in a saucepan until butter is melted. Add the Frank's Hot Sauce, and cook, stirring occasionaly, until melted. Keep warm. Remove wings from the marinade and grill or broil 4" from heat source, for 3-4 min per side.
Transfer sauce to a large bowl. Add the grilled wings and flip liberally, coating on all sides.
Use Mesguite chips in with your charcoal, and enjoy.

Sorry bout yesterday with no drink of the day, I wasn't around.
SCB, I am the hugest wing freak, sounds like a good recipe and i will definitely try it next time i have a bbq.
It's not bbq weather in ny today, so i was thinking of goin along with my middle eastern roots and bringing something from my world.
Middle Eastern Rice Pilaf
3/4 cup of Basmati rice
1- 1 1/2 cups of water
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon margarine
1 teaspoon zatar spice
pinch of schwarma spice
3/4 cup pine nuts
both spices are available in middle eastern markets, but you can substitute cumin for the zatar and a bbq spice for the schwarma.
Rinse the rice. Take a large saucepan and boil the water and add rice. Add the salt and margarine, mixing together. cover the saucepan and cook for 15 minutes or until majority of water has evaporated and rice is fluffy. Add spices and pine nuts and sprinkle some water over the rice to moisten. Stir the rice and lower the heat and let stand for about 20 minutes. Put rice mixture into a bowl, stir and enjoy.
Drink of the Day
Malibu Sunrise -- one of my favorites
2 shots Malibu Rum
Orange Juice
Pineapple Juice
1 shot Grenadine
Pour Malibu Rum in a highball glass, and fill with equal parts orange and pineapple juice and stir. Add grenadine by tilting glass and pouring grenadine downside by flipping the bottle vertically and quickly, so grenadine will be on bottom and rise to the top.
Kind of a girly drink, but mad good.

My Mom used to make ice cream at home when I was a little kid. Yummy! Nothing like it. It was the best. :xyxthumbs Even my cat loves homemade ice cream. He won't eat ice cream from the grocery store but if you pile up a bowl of good stuff he'll lick it clean in a New York minute. :cat1:
I love black coffee, morning or night. They say you shouldn't drink coffee all day because even though the first 2-3 cups give you a jolt, more caffeine tires you, causes insomnia, puts your adremal glands in overdrive, etc. B.S. If I'm tired I can drink a cup of coffee and go right to sleep.
Another thing I'm addicted to is quality imported Italian wines, especially Chianti. I can drink a whole bottle by myself. Beer is OK, too. Miller Lite, Bud, Fosters, Heineken, Corona... especially if someone else is paying! ;) Frozen Margaritas (I get them free at Casino Royale here in Vegas), any drink with cranberry juice, and "White Russian."
Damn, all this talk about drinks makes me thirsty... Excuse me a moment, I gotta make me a Martini.

Speaking about homemade ice cream, my mom makes one. i think its just strawberries, wine, egg whites, and sugar...i think. but its really yummy and creamy.
I made a really awesome dinner last night of Tequila Lime Chicken and Grilled Potatoes, so I"ll post the chicken recipe another time, but here's the grilled potatoes one.
Grilled Potatoes
Take a sheet of aluminum foil and fold it to make it like a bowl. Pour olive oil into it, bout an inch and a half thick. Take potatoes (i used yukon gold) and slice slits into them. Place them into the "bowl" and roll them around letting them be smothered in olive oil. Sprinkle oregano and 1-2 cloves of crushed fresh garlic (add more depending on how much of a garlic lover you are). Fold the bowl a little more.
Place on grill for about a half hour and enjoy.
Drink of the Day
The Canadian Gulp
3 oz Amaretto
1 pint Beer
2 oz Coca-Cola
Pour Amaretto into a mason jar. Follow up with a chilled beer (use a Canadian one like Molson if possible). Top it off with coke.

I like chocha, with a side order of tetas. I would also have to say as a drink I prefer a beverage like beer. If I would have to choose a drink I'd choose... "a seabreeze, Robin" No! I would go with a plain ol' screwdriver. As for food, nothing quite like a nice Catholic meal. Otherwise known as "some wacky bread wafers" I mean what's the deal with these bodies of Christ, why are they so thin? I mean c'mon!
Okay, my favorite food is "Rigatoni a la vodka" Sorry I was so late with mine. I have to print this page out, there are a lot of good recipes.
Ingredients
A lot of vodka
Heavy Cream
Crushed tomatoes
Olive oil
Rigatoni pasta
Any spices you may want to add is in your hands
Optional: Small cuts of bacon
Cook for 1-2 1/2 hours. The longer you cook it, the better it tastes, as far as I am concerned.

Tangy Bufallo Wings
This is pretty simple...all you need is one of those glass bakin pans.2 bottle of Italian Dressing (not Creamy)!!!!! Garlic Powder,Salt,Peper,Minced garlic that comes in the little Jar.

ENJOY!!!!
Garlic Flavored Mashed Potatoes

So we experimented last night and made a variation on a margarita (though i'm sure it's been done before).
Drink of the Day
Blue Margarita
2 tsp coarse salt
1 lime wedge
3 oz white tequilla (you can use gold too, your choice)
Blue Curacao
2 oz lime juice
i cup crushed ice
Place salt in a saucepan and rub rim of glass with a lime wedge and then dip the rim into the salt. Take rest of ingredients and put into a blender and blend well at high speed, then pour into glass.
You can use margarita mix too and follow their instructions. We just added Blue Curacao into it. Didn't really do much for flavoring, except increase alcohol content and give the margarita this funky blue color.

With the Stanley Cup Playoffs still underway, I've taken the liberty to make themed drinks (pathetic, but who cares you're still consuming alcohol, right?). So far, there's been one called the Avalanche. Moving onward, I felt this drink was most fitting as the way Boston Bruins have been playing, and are now dealing (if you don't get it, read the sports section or something).
Drink of the Day
Boston Burn-out
1 shot Root Beer liqueur
1 shot Amaretto
1 shot Butterscotch liqueur
1 shot Bacardi 151 proof rum
4 shots Bailey's Irish Cream
4-6 drops of Tobasco Sauce
In a juice glass, pour in Root Beer, Amaretto, Butterscotch, Bacardi, and then top of to the top with Bailey's. Then add Tobasco sauce. Slam it down, don't sip.
***DISCLAIMER: I am completely not responsible for what happens if you make this. Just reading the ingredients, I'd hate to see the aftermath, but I wanted to put it in because it was Boston, and did it for the Boston Bruins.***

First off, SCB the WINGS ruled. They came out really good, though I baked them instead of grilling them. Let me tell you though, wings are the biggest pain in the ass to make, b/c you have to disjoint them and not only that, you gotta pluck them too! But, because they did come out so good, I will make them again.
Drink of the Day
Keeping with the hockey theme. Well then there were 8 teams left.
Detroit Red Wing
6 oz Ginger Ale (Vernor's original)
2 shots Cinnamon Liquor.
Serve over ice.
Who knew there was an actual drink with the full team name? Supposedly though, the brand of Ginger Ale comes from Detroit and the drink is hot and red, so its called a red wing.
Personally, I think the team just had something to do with it :)

Alright, here's a real recipe. Biggest pain in the ass to make (takes about 2-3 hours), but it tastes fuckin amazing and everyone loves it.
Tiramisu
Makes 10-12 servings
Ingredients
6 eggs separated
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
24 ladyfingers split lenghtwise
3/4 cup hot water
2 tsp. instant coffee granules
1/4 and 2 Tbs brandy
1 2/3 cups heavy cream (whipped)
4 oz bittersweet chocolate coarsely grated
3 tbs cocoa powder
Arrange half the lady fingers in a 9" X 13" pan. Mix hot water with coffee granules and 2 tbs of brandy. Pour 1/2 mixture over ladyfingers and set aside.
Make a zabliogne sauce by beating the egg yolks and sugar in a pot on the stove until ivory colored. Add 1/4 cup of brandt and whisk until the mixture thickens (takes about 8-10 min). Continue stirring while cooking and then let it cool. Carefully mix the zabliogne with the mascarpone. In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff and fold into the zabliogne/mascarpone mixture.
Pour 1/2 zabliogne/mascarpone mix over the ladyfingers. Top with 1/2 the whipped cream. Sprinkle 1/2 cocoa powder and 1/2 grated chocolate.
Place rest of lady fingers on top of the first layer. Pour rest of coffee mixture over the ladyfingers. Then add the rest of the zabliogne/mascarpone mixture. Add the rest of the whipped cream, followed by the rest of the cocoa powder and grated chocolate.
Cover with saran wrap and refrigerate (best if left overnight). Serve with chocolate sauce.
Chocolate Sauce
Ingredients
4-5 tsp butter
7-9 tsp cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/4-1/2 cup milk
2-3 tsp corn syrup
1/2-1 tsp vanilla
In a pot, melt the butter and mix with cocoa powder. Once smooth, mix with sugar. Add milk and stir until you reach a creamy consistency. Add corn syrup until sweet enough. Allow it to cool and then add vanilla.
THIS RECIPE IS WORTH THE TIME AND THE MESS YOU'LL MAKE USING ALL THESE POTS! I MAKE IT ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR AND EVERYONE LOVES IT!

So freakin humid out in NY, and I was thinking it's milkshake season.....
Drink of the Day
Milkshake
Ice cream (any flavor, just make sure no nuts or anything).
Milk
Add alcohol of your choice if you like (I recommend Kahlua, Godiva, Baileys, etc).
Put a couple of scoops into the blender. Add some milk. Mix. Keep on adding ice cream and milk and add as much alcohol as you please.
Really simple to make and the possibilities are endless with adding different kinds of syrups.

Really yummy food...
Barbecue chicken.
Take chicken pieces (wings, thighs, drumsticks, breasts, etc) and smother them completely in barbecue sauce (i'm a huge fan of the jack daniels line). Grill them on the barbecue until cooked.
Really easy to make and everyone loves it

I'm at Atkins dieter (no carbs, all protein)
Here's some excerpts from MY menu:
HotDogs a la Atkins:
As many hotdogs as you can stomach (no rolls)
Mustard (not Honey)
Prepare hotdogs as normal. Eat with mustard.
Steak a la Atkins:
Sirloin (or any cut) steak.
Grill or broil steak.
Eat it.
(Yes, you can use some L&P Worchestshire sauce and a small amount of grilled onions)
Exciting, huh?

Always goes with Asian Foods
Zombie
1 1/2 ounces dark rum (86 proof)
3/4 ounce Jamaica rum (90 proof)
3/4 ounce light rum (86 proof)
3/4 ounce pineapple juice
3/4 ounce papaya juice
1 ounce lime juice
1 teaspoon powdered sugar
Although far from a true cocktail, we still have a soft spot for this granddaddy of all fern bar drinks. If you like this type of drink, try a Mai Tai or Pina Colada.
Here's the recipe for a Zombie. Shake ingredients with ice; strain into a chilled pint glass. Garnish with a pineapple wheel and a cherry. Float Demerara rum (151 proof) and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.

I love bbq's and grilling:bigok Nothing better than standing around a grill with your buddies drinking beer's. I feel like a cave man standing around a grill staring at fire, I love it! I have never heard better stories around the grill.
Spots recipe looks really good, I haven't grilled wing's yet, usually steak, burgers, seafood, but when you posted about the wings i looked around and found some good stuff. I lost the link but will post it when i find it in a second

Here it is;
1 dozen chicken wing's
1/4 cup bottle italian salad dressing
3-4 tablespoons hot sauce
1/4 teaspoon of each (garlic salt, onion powder, dried sweet basil)
1/8 teaspoon each (paprika, white pepper, red pepper)
dash of liquid smoke (i have no fucking clue what it is)
Put in a freezer bag and "shake it up." leave in the fridge for 4-24hrs. Then grill it up (15-20 min)
If you wan't it less spicy jusst substitue the hot sauce for bbq sauce, there's a ton of great one's out there.
