That Jaws shot is so famous it has a name and the internet is filled with articles about it. From one linked below:
In contemporary filmmaking, the camera trick known as the 'trombone' shot is widely overused and rarely achieved correctly. Originally conceived by the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, in his film Vertigo, it was 'stolen' by Steven Spielberg for Jaws. (It is used when Police Chief Brody is sitting on the beach and spots an ominous black fin poking from the water, close to swimming children.) Thereafter, it became known as the 'Spielberg shot'. This was not so much a planned attempt by Spielberg to name a technique after himself, but more due to the success of Jaws and the timing of the effect in the film: everyone talked about it and the movie, which gave birth to the term.

i'm a film major in college, so i may know how they do that shot in Jaws. they zoom in while pulling the camera back. it's so hard to do because you have to time the zooming in perfectly with the camera's backward movement on the dolly. it's also effectively done briefly in Halloween 4, when Donald Pleasence encounters Michael Myers in the gas station.

It almost looks like Brody's chair is on rollers and they move him closer to the camera as the camera zooms out. It is a nice effect though.

That one from Leon aka The Professional; thats an Oscar worthy performance for her, what an awesome movie. The animations rule; I'm too lazy, hitting the screen cap button is work enough for me...
And IMHO, the greatest old school, throw everyone in the world, including the three stooges, into it movie anyone ever spent 3+ hours watching...

It's Sam Shepard as Chuck Yeager punching out in The Right Stuff.
Perhaps the climax of a three hour movie; it showed that while the Mercury Seven, some who hadn't yet flown in space were being wined and dined from coast to coast, Texas Style in the sequence, flight test guys like Yeager, and even more so in the X-15 program later on, were essentially flying into space in airplanes. It's not what most define 'space' as, but Yeager in the F-104 and guys like Scott Crossfield and Neil Armstrong were taking the X- series planes over Mach 6 and, on one flight, 67 miles up. That was space enough for many in the mili, and X-15 guys were getting Astronaut Wings.
Anyway on that day Yeager had a bad day. Bad day meaning he took the plane up to over 100,000 feet and the engine quit with the rear stab in a position such that he couldnt get the plane nose down so he could start the engine by getting air running through them. So he fell from 20 miles up to I forget what altitude when he decides it's time to not be a hero so he punches out. Punching out in those days was often suicide; especially at those speeds.
From the same movie:
http://members.aol.com/miketeachr/x1
Yeager's greatest moment, breaking the sound barrier with the Bell X-1; that shot shows the X-1 being dropped exactly like a bomb, from a B-29, and them he lit the thing and off he went and pushed it past Mach 1, and an event as significant as the Wright Brothers and Lindbergh crossing the Atlantic non-stop solo ended up being buried in cold-war paranoia. Yeager's very well known in mili circles and space-nerds like me, but his achievements were as significant as Shepard, Glenn, Armstrong, etc, IMO, but he often gets a big 'Who?' when brought up.

Fuck I could just said... um; The Right Stuff.
