Earl (Jason Lee, "Almost Famous," "Chasing Amy") has taken one too many wrong turns on the highway of life. However, a twist of fate turns his life into a tailspin of life-renewing events. Earl wins a small lottery, and, after an epiphany, he is determined to transform his good fortune into a life-changing event as he sets out to right all the wrongs from his past.

Before Earl can begin his journey, his inevitable attraction to misfortune surfaces once again. Seconds after winning the lottery, he is hit by a car and while unconscious; the winning lottery ticket blows away. While in the hospital, Earl watches "Last Call with Carson Daly" where Carson says that his success is a direct result of doing good things for other people. It is at that moment Earl discovers karma- and in hope of a better life, he sets out to correct every bad thing he's ever done starting with a grade school geek, Kenny (guest star, Gregg Binkley), who Earl used to pick on.

Joining Earl along his quest to cleanse his karma are a few dim-witted friends: hapless brother Randy (Ethan Suplee, "Cold Mountain") and the very sexy Catalina (Nadine Velazquez, "The Bold and the Beautiful"). Even Darnell (Eddie Steeples, "Torque"), the owner of the Crab Shack where Earl drinks beer, offers his support. But it's Earl's ex-wife Joy (Jamie Pressly, "Not Another Teen Movie") who won't lift a finger to help unless there's something in it for her.

Despite his seemingly limited intelligence, Earl is oddly effective -- and the comedy series, like Earl himself, has a voice and style all its own. Created and written by Greg Garcia ("Yes, Dear), "My Name is Earl" is executive produced by Garcia and Marc Buckland ("Medical Investigation," "Ed"). The series is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.

Finally Something different, that's a sitcom, on Broadcast TV. I have high hopes for this show and hopefully it works. Can't wait for the premiere at 9:00 tonight on NBC.

I'll give it a shot but it will be interesting to see how this show holds up. I just hope the storyline of him trying to right his past doesn't get old. Next thing you know, Steve Buschemi is making a cameo playing the lipstick wearing psycho from Billy Madison. Jason Lee can say he's sorry and Buschemi will scratch him off his list. Sorta sounds like the same concept.

Hopefully Brody won't dissapoint.

I'll DVR it. House is tonight and at the same time. I hate when they pile good shows on the same day. Why can't it be on Wednesday or Thurday when there isn't anything decent on?

I have the Tivo in my guest room set to record this as a "Season Pass". It looks like my new Wednesday morning, treadmill viewing material will be "My Name is Earl".

Certainly a good show. Really funny. Jamie Pressley plays the best trailer park whore and looks great doing it but I really like the Spanish chick. I will definately keep watching this show.

Stealing Harvard? I wasn't too much of a fan of that...fucking Tom Green.

Its Jason Lee himself. His actual movements and head nods and half smiles kill me.

That Spanish chick is smoking... and Jamie Pressly too. Def. good reasons to check it out...

I thought it was a great show for network tv. Kind of reminds me of Raising Arizona/The Big Lebowski.

I like the show, pretty damn funny. Probably the funniest show I've seen on broadcast tv in a LONG time. The way the show is presented reminds me of the beginning of the movie Raising Arizona, with the narration part through portions of the show.

Really funny show. "Hey crab guy." The golfer child. Jason Lee is a great lead. The Office afterwards was hilarious tonight too. The laugh track is so dead.

I think Jason Lee is hysterical (minus Stealing Harvard) so I couldn't wait for this show. Once it started and I saw Ethan Suplee's name pop up, I was pumped. Nothing beats "Willam" from Mall Rats!

Finally a good solid hour of network tv; Earl and The Office (how can you beat a show that takes place in Scranton!)

I generally avoid network TV, but gave this a go and I really liked it. Great cast and great potential for a good show. Definately one of those that seems too good to make it.

Plays the best, that all she does and something tells me its from experience. The Spanish chick hot as hell, kind of reminded me of a couple of girls from the Chica Boom pornos. As for the show funny as hell. Always liked Jsaon Lee as an actor and he really carries the show well. I loved how the show was not PC at all, its really comedy for guys. Its been a while since there has been a comdey on network television like this.

Don't mean to double post, but there are lot of movie stars doing network TV this season. I'm not only talking about established actors, but actors that were probably just on the cust of breaking through in Hollywood. My guess is that there sick and tired of lack creativity in movies nowadays.

Did anyone watch this? I couldn't quite get a handle on whether I like the show or not. I like Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee as actors, but the pilot show was just ok; nothing really outstandingly funny...although to be fair, most pilot episodes suck.

I think I'll give it a few more episodes...it has a little bit of potential.

EDIT: Oops...my bad...didn't catch the old thread...thanks to whoever moved this post in here.

I couldn't decide either. I really wanted to like it being that Jason Lee is so funny in most of his movies, but not sure I really did like it. And I am yet to make it through a whole episode of the Office either. Steve Carroll is funny as hell in Anchorman and 40 year old virgin but I hate the Office.

I dont understand why people say that....like, you never know until u see a season 3. I used to say that South Park would fail after its first season even though it was good b/c i was like "are they serious, they are going to kill Kenny everytime? And how much outrageous stuff can they get into?" and then as the show went on it came into its own and now i think the show is way better than when it first premiered.

Loved last night's episode. I really think they can carry the idea through a full season. But I was thinking last night about Jamie Pressely. Given the fact that like I said that she probably has a lot of expeirence playing a white thrash trailer whore, do you think when she moved to Hollywood, she was probably just one more failed audition from going into porno?
