Well, later today (Monday, Sept. 26) the 52nd week of the O & A Show on XM will commence marking one year on satellite.
I can't even begin to express how much gooder radio (and life for that matter!) has been with the b-b-boys back on the air for the last year.
I bought my XM on Oct. 1, '04 and had it all hooked up and ready to go by the 2 pm replay on Oct. 4. It was one of the best purchases on my life! (FYI: Apparently, there are a LOT of other stations in addition to 202 on XM! Who knew?)
What's funny is that 11 years ago, I interned for Hoo-Hoo Howie and I never thought then that I'd ever listen to another radio show over Stern. I just couldn't see it at that point.
But ya know what? I got infected with the virus and I'll be damned if even though O & A are on several times a day, I never listen to Howard anymore if I'm up early. Its Op-Ack or nuthin'!
My point to this whole post is that I was hesitant at first that O & A would be able to recapture the magic they had when I first heard them at NEW. And, yes, those first few shows on XM were a little rough (THIS IS NOT WHAT I'M USED TO!), but as the months passed by they not only matched it, they SURPASSED it.
Obviously, you can't go too long without mentioning the game that L'il Jimmy brings to the table. The guy is a magician at the mike and NEVER fails to crack me up. I got so bummed when I heard he was gonna be taking little breaks here and there to go be a fancy star, but lo and behold, Mr. Bill Burr steps right in and knocks 'em dead with every appearance. (He's the Willie Parker to Jimmy's Jerome Bettis!).
Well, I've talked enough, but hopefully this week we can fill this thread with some thanks (or thoughts & prayers!) to the High Voltage crew for one hell of a year of great fuckin' radio.
Great job bros!
