I just realized something:

Ever since O&A started a year ago, XM has gone from 2.5 mil to 5 mil. O&A have to have a big part of that. Does Stern think he can dispute his service sucks?

Oh no...it had NOTHING to do with them.

Just ask any zombie as they are SURE to give Howard credit for EVERY sub that comes to Sirius.

Thank GOD for Arbitron.

Not to be the realistic faggot, but MLB definitely brought in more subs than O&A. I'll bet the exposure from the Arthur Chi'en assault did bring in plenty more though, since that quarter had a big gain. Sirius' sports content and the usual crowd wanting commercial free music will contribute way more than Howard's move.

I don't think there is much of an O&A effect. Outside of the Northeast and the few other parts of the country they were once sydicated to, people generally don't know O&A for shit. I like the show immensely, listen everyday, and am ready to be activated as part of a Louisiana/New Orleans Pest cell when commanded by the generals....but was converted after I got XM. And only after it was a free service because I knew nothing about them, except for the St Pat's thing. So I wasn't going to pay for it. I'm sure I may be a minority as far as wackbaggers go, but there are probably a lot more listeners like me who tune in, like the show, move on, than the diehards.

Besides the MLB and NHL deals, Xm is in new GM and Chrysler cars, they sell them at walmart. People are buying the shit out of them. Not to be too incendiary, but I think more people probably listen to Dr Laura on XM 166 on a daily basis than listen to 202. I could be wrong.....

There's also the free Roady2 promotion, and now they're selling them for less than half of what I paid in September. I know one person that got XM for the commercial free music, and chose XM over Sirius because the equipment was cheaper.

Hmm, no offense to O&A or Howie, but I think its a very loose correlation to the sub numbers. Sat radio is bound to continue a sharp rise in subs over the next 10 years just because its a new great medium. Especially if we keep the conservatives in office. People love O&A but I really doubt you can attribute the number of subs largely to them.

But then again, the only reason I signed up to XM was for O&A so maybe Im all wrong.

I don't know if O&A had anything to do with it, I mean don't they only have 4 listeners...I'm just saying.

Arbitron? They dont handle Satellite radio ratings or anything else.
I hate STERN.
Sirius is desperate, they're doing alot of free giveaways of their crappy product.

I'm not sure we'll have a real answer until Arbitron (or whatever company it is) starts rating satellite. Right now we're in a forum where easily 90% of us bought XM because of O&A. I'd say our views are a bit skewed. :)

MLB, NHL, 100% commercial free music, etc... were the giants. But O&A must hve brought in a lot of subs!

Wackbag has 20,757 registered members, so I'll estimate 60,000 people bought XM for O&A.

My question is, before O&A went off Premium, how many subs did they have for 202? Take that number for the first six months of them on-air, and that will give you an idea. Because for every person who paid for the channel, I'd guess that 4 started listening becasue it'sfree/they came across it.
