Apprently the next villians in Spiderman are Venom and the Sandman or so says Kirsten Dunst
Everyone has been trying to guess who the villains will be in the forthcoming Spiderman 3 but their identity was still unknown until today as Marvel and Sony have worked hard to keep the names under wraps. The only thing we knew is that they're being played by Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace. But during an interview, Kirsten revealed:
"We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace - Venom and Sandman. Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that."
Of course you weren't supposed to say that Kirsten. Now get lost, and please do something about those vampire teeth.

this news has been out for a few days, but i have my doubts about it. it's been reported that Thomas Hayden Church will be playing Sandman, which i can see. but that twig Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom? they could have got it switched around, but Topher would make the skinniest Sandman too.
i do think Topher could make a good Carnage, if he can do a good psycho. but they couldn't possibly get to Carnage without spending enough time on Venom first.

So there finally doing a dual villan movie?
Not only is the 2nd green goblin up in the air, but how long are you going to keep Dr. Connors and JJ's son there in cameo's before you introduce thier supervillans?

JJ's son went into space and came back with powers EARLY on in the series, he could have been Venom, that was past my time.

Venom is Eddie Brock, who works at the Daily Bugle with Peter. JJJ called to "Eddie" in the first Spiderman flick. Anyone else catch it? Eddie was a huge musclebound guy before the Venom transformation, they shouldn't make a skinny guy play him.
dr. connors is the lizard.
You are correct, sir.

how the fuck do they explain the symbiote and its complicated connection to peter? that would take at least a movie to be done well. you cant just introduce venom, hes too dynamic of a character and it would do great unjustice if you just show him as a bloodthirsty bruiser.

This doesn't make sense. They were totally revving it up as if there would be a Hob Goblen and a Lizard in the next movie. So where the hell do they pull Sandman and Venom out of? Don't get me wrong I'd like to see Venom, but this really confuses me. Maybe the bitch was just fucking around.
Maybe they are gonna put the Venom suit into this movie only as a build up to the next movie, and have peter go through all that he does with the suit, and then save the start of the Brock stuff for the end of the movie as a cliff hanger for Venom (maybe Carnage as well, who knows), in the next movie.
I would be suprised if they didn't use Green Goblin again, they set it up and everything.
I'll just hope that the only reason they are doing two villains is so that Spiderman isn't only fighting Green Goblin again, and that the only other actual villain in the movie, the main villain of the movie, is sandman.
Venom doesn't have to actually be a full fledged enemy yet

they could build Eddie Brock up to become Venom in another film, sorta how they're building Harry up to become the next Green Goblin. but that means they gotta turn Harry into the Green Goblin soon to make room for Venom. there's got to be a payoff for all the character development they're doing. i mean, Harry spent the entirety of the second film wanting to get revenge on Spider-Man, and Harry now knows Peters is Spider-Man and his father was the Green Goblin, so what's keeping him from donning the suit and going after Peter? maybe they can still have Harry fighting with the choice to go after Peter or not, but judging from the grin on his face at the end of the last film, he looks like he's already made that choice. so he's gotta turn pretty soon, they can only hold that off for so long before it starts to look like they're stalling for more sequels.

I've read the plan is to do 6 movies, so they can take their time to a certain point. I think it would be good if they somehow tried to extend the Harry thing over the next three movies and have 6, the final one, be the big showdown between the two. There's lots they can do to drag that out in the meantime. Have him put the GG suit on early in this one, get his ass kicked, then go into the mental hospital. That could be the precredit opening sequence. He's there for all of 4 and gets out in the end. In 5 he starts going wacko again and begins building the Hobgoblin suit. And Boom goes the dynamite in 6.
I liked the idea someone brought up that they just introduce Eddie as a side character, and have this movie be about Spiderman fighting the Sandman, and getting the alien suit. At the end of the movie he uses sonics to defeat both the Sandman and the suit, and the suit slinks off at the end and finds Eddie. 4 can then have Lizard and Venom.

If they are planning for 6, that would tie it up nicely.

Every rumor out there says that if they go past 3, they will have to really pony out big cash to get the cast and crew back. Raimi, McGuire, and Dunst all have said that they don't anticipate doing more after they finish up the third one. Honestly, they could replace Dunst with no problem. And that Jake Gyllanhall, or whatever the shit his name is, could stand in as Spidey for the others. The one that is going to be tough to completly replace is Raimi. He seems to have the magic for this set of movies and would hate to see someone else take it and butcher it.

I totally agree, I could see Keifer Sutherland being a great Venom. All he would have to do is bulk up like he did for An Eye for An Eye and let his acting chops do the rest. However from what I read, Sam Raimi has stated that Venom would not be in either pic, because the origin of Venom is too long and Raimi is only contracted for two more movies.

Not to mention, no Bruce Campbell, Ted Raimi or the Oldsmobile.....

The thought that Topher Grace is EVER considered for the role of Venom should NEVER HAPPEN! EVER! whether in rumor, or for real, who ever would let this happen should get shot in the dick. That skinny mother fucker from "that 70's show" to be Venom??? I refuse to believe that

JJs son was a brief villian to what I remember that he was transformed into a wolf man but it only lasted very shortly.
And everyone else remember JJJ did mention Brock back in part one?

I thought Dr. Connors son was The Amazing Aquatic Prune Boy.
Topher Grace would make a better Spider Man replacement if what's his name leaves - they both seem like pussah's.
So you kids know, in the cartoon JJ's son did get the Venom suit for a short time before Brock in the cartoon. The cartoon backstory is that JJ's son brought it back from space and Brock stole it.
I was under the impression that it was on peter befor it was on brock, but I never fallowed any of the comics too closely.

that's how i understood it. JJJ's son unknowingly brought back from space, it ended up with Peter, then Eddie Brock ended up with it.

i thought peter got the black suit from saving a planet. He was a black Spider-Man for a while and i think the costume tried to consume him or some shit, he got rid of it, and it went to Eddie after he got fired.

Even Spiderman worked diligently when he was black. Then the symbiote (or the conglomerated, mullato, MONGREL class of being) shuffled off to make someone else evil...
I'd kill to see Carnage though, one of my comic faves...

The black suit was created for Spidey by a computer in the good guys Secret Wars compound, right?
Im sooo fuckin lame.
Okay, I think the problem here is we are all remembering from different sources, since there have been an obscene number of backstories to allot of different villains/heros/etc
The question is, which backstory will they use for the movie (either an old one or a new one)? Whatever it is, I think in general, both Brock and Venom have to hate both Spiderman and Peter Parker before being joined together

I'm thinking that since they already told JJ's story about being a astronaut, I think they'll go with FOX's cartoon story. JJ goes up to the moon, finds a 'rock', brings it back, they crash (maybe not) and Spider-Man finds it, uses it, and realizes it's alive and gets rid of it. Then Brock comes around and there we go. But yeah, Parker will get on Brock's bad side right off to set that up.
Since they went with the whole biological spider web, I don't think they'll go with the whole Spider-Man going out into space and fighting evil aliens...

The story from the comics was that Spider-Man had ripped up his costume on the Secret Wars planet and used some machine to make a new black costume drawing inspiration from the then Spider Woman. Coming back to earth Peter had Mr. Fantastic examine it and found it to be a living organism feeding off Peter. Using extreme noise levels, the costume was seperated from Peter. At the same time Daily Bugle reporter Eddie Brock had a story exposed as untrue by Spider-Man. Praying at the same church that the costume was seperated from Peter, Brock and the symbiote were joined, because of the hatred Brock had for Spider-Man.
That's the long and short of it, I fucking spent my entire childhood reading comics. I don't really mind the idea of Topher Grace playing Venom, I never liked the depiction of Venom the size of the Hulk with that stupid tomgue thing.

Those are pretty cool villians. I hope the movie is as good as the last two (and I hated the 2nd one the first time I saw it until I gave it another chance on DVD)
