I'm into hockey, most of you all know that, but on the other hand I don't know how many are aware of the shit that's been goin on in the playoffs, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs-New York Islanders series (and oh yeah, even if i wasn't an Isles fan, I'd still write this post) and the Toronto Raptors-Detroit Pistons series (though not as extreme as the shit being pulled at the hockey games).
Anyways, as I've experienced it myself, during the Canadian anthem, O Canada, there is excessive booing, disrespect, etc. Althouth I went to a Vancouver Canucks-New York Islanders game during the regular season, and there was just as much booing during the O Canada

My friend sent me the article from the Toronto Sun 4/30/02

Bush owes Canadians 'an apology'

By GEORGE CHRISTOPOULOS, CITY HALL BUREAU

A Toronto politician wants the White House to apologize on behalf of U.S. sports fans and their "boorish behaviour" toward the singing of O Canada.

"Mr. President, I believe that you owe Canadians an apology," Councillor George Mammoliti said in his missive to George W. Bush yesterday.

NO 'RESPECT'

"I understand that this is a minority of Americans that choose not to respect us. I also believe that as the president of the United States of America, who has witnessed our Canadian loyalty time and time again, that ... you recognize the disrespect that is occurring towards us."

Mammoliti said he was shocked when the Canadian anthem was again greeted by boos during Sunday night's playoff game on Long Island.

"The only real thing that I can do is ask Canadians to join with me and ask the president of the United States to give us an apology," he said.

You can also write a letter to the editor of the Toronto Sun to voice your own opinion (which I'm doing, I think) at: news_ed@canoe.ca and put "poll-bush apologizing" in the subject line.
