The boys started the 5 O'clock hour off with some of their picks for the 2002 Opie & Anthony celebrity softball game, sponsored by Coors light at the Riverfront stadium in Newark, New Jersey. Opie being the master strategist that he is, decided he wanted to strike a deal right in the beginning. He offered Pete Radavich to Anthony, for two picks. After careful deliberation by Anthony, he accepted the offer. That led to Opie choosing Stephen Lynch and Black Earl as his two picks. He is hoping for Lynchie to have a big start, and after seeing Black Earl play last year, Opie just had to have him on his team. They continued on with the list, wondering who would be the next intriguing pick, they went through the list, which consists of: Adam Ferrara, Jay Mohr, Rick Cerone, Paul the Pilot, Ol' Dirty, Frenchy, Breast cancer Doctor, Eddie Trunk, Big Kev, Buzz (Devin) and a bunch of other nothings. Anthony was tossed between whether to pick the Prince of thieves Ol' Dirty, being that he is Dominican and we all know how they play ball, or to grab a star. Anthony didn't want to be left with no celebrities on his team. There were some Instant feedback's asking, what about Dice? The boys reiterated that if it's not about Dice, then there is no reason for him to show. All you would get from Dice is his handlers, such as Club Soda Kenny, who would constantly remind everyone how good Dice looks holding a bat. Anthony decided on picking the Breast cancer Doctor, saying he looked like a pretty big guy, and hopefully he can swing the bat. They decide to stop the draft early, because Don West is on the phone. "Is that Don on the Phone?"
(Break)
The boys get back, and it's right to the phone with Don West. Anthony immediately tells Don West what a pleasure it is to finally be speaking to him, busting out his flawless Don West impression. They went into how great he was screaming about baseball cards at three in the morning. Opie asked Don to give them a little craziness, so Don did his thing saying Opie & Anthony are the best thing on the radio, and they are "Gem mint 10" Anthony asked about that damn Mark McGwire rookie card, and how it seemed with every offer they were throwing in another McGwire rookie card. They read a Stinky gram from some guy on the phone who said he had bought so much stuff from watching Don's show, that he was even convinced to buy Beanie Babies. Anthony asked Don what happen with the "Shot at Home" show. Don told him that there was a change in management, and he could have stayed, or been paid not to go to another network, so it was a win, win situation for him, but he decided to move on completely. He said that the business seemed to be going downhill, and cards kept losing their worth. He said it was mainly because of all the different baseball card companies, there are thousands. In the beginning there was only Topps, and now Topps itself has like 50 variations of Topps. Anthony brought up that guy who would always call in, and how Don would just cut him off at every turn. He does infomercials now, and he is also getting into Wrestling commentating. The organization is the "NWA TNA" Wak, wak, TNA which stands for "Total Nonstop Action" will be airing on Wednesdays at 8 PM on Pay-per-view. Anthony wondered if Don still had the same haircut, which Ant called "The Texas Tailgate" Classic! Don told him that he still had the same haircut, and said he would sick with it until it came back in style, but he added a goatee. Anthony read a great Instant feedback from Tuttle that said, since Don has the goatee now, does that make him the evil Don West? So, they part ways and he plugs the wrestling website NWATNA.com, and as he is about to hang-up, Lil' Jimmy Norton can't help but GET him. It was brutal! They went to break with an old clip of Anthony selling Beanie Babies such as, Snatchy the bearded Clam, in the Don West Style!
In commercial Anthony read a Bud light ad in the Don West style. "Bud Light people, It's Gem mint 10"
Peace!
